  1. I think of better things to spend £1000 on !!
  2. what ever floats your boat !!
  3. because all timbers hard or soft have different charateristics, and therefore different uses. You will have to pad this out a bit for your assignemt. Cut and paste is always usfull for this.
  4. Doh doh doh, there is a homer in all of us. this is supposed to be a related link LiveLeak.com - Monster ACNE on ear, blah! ENJOY
  5. The straighter the flue the better the draw. The 135 degree needed to go from the back of the stove and out through the wall is the most expensive piece, over £200 in twin wall. Jewson do a lead and rubber seal for flues going through roofs. If its only in your shed try flexible chimeny liner for the flue, but make sure that is is the one for wood burner as the other liners rot with the lignit in wood smoke. You can probably get it off flea bay quite cheaply. Just make sure that there is enough of a gap between the roof/ wall and the chimeny to reduce the chances of ignition. Don't forget when all else fails hit it with a hammer !!
  6. looks an intriguing knot. Not sure through about its practicability
  7. ummmm big shiney toys. At £40,000 i would be scared to take it any where
  8. Yes yes yes, sold out of our logs in November, struck a deal with a local land owner with logs, now sold out of those. Still having people ringing up after logs.
  9. Hornbeam responds well to pollarding, as do most hardwood species, and if done for long enough it will produce rare invertibrate habitate
  10. Could have been anther monolith, it looked like there was an interesting rotton cavity inside.
  11. Having just re-read the post about the lightning boots, i have now reliesed that you wanted a personal message. It is now probably too late, but i would be interested in testing equipment in the future. I used to work for a climbing shop, and regularly tested and reviewed equipment.

  12. If you combine the kelly kettle or the wood berner with the diablo, then you have the ultimate go anywhere drink/ hot snack combo. The Diablo Current fav to ward off the cold is chees and onion, followed by nutella and banana.
  13. Ye haaa, giddy up lets ride
  14. He is not tied into the tree that he cutting, hence bong bong bounce. Also for some reason known only to himself he lets out some slack on his main line before cutting, increasing the lenght of his fall.
  15. This one is better[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEz5KsjXJP8]YouTube - Tree cutter[/ame]
  16. What ever you do to the poor tree is will look odd at best, SH:thumbdown:T at worst. Pine trees either need to be felled or left alone. Against my better judgement, a customer talked me into reducing a row of scots pine, which after two days carefull pruning they looked odd,and SH:thumbdown:T, and the customer then decided to have them felled, and replant with some smaller growing trees. It's your call............
  17. It took a long time. The bag is made from 30 carrier bags, which had to be rolled up and cut to form 1/8" loops. Then the loopes were looped together to form the thread to be knitted. All in all about 6 hours work. Hopefully this should last till i retire
  18. For freelance forestry we normally get £10 per ton, plus if we point the fencing posts, strainers etc we get £2.50 extra on the ton (plus we get ready cut fire wood once it has dried). Now that we are starting to generate our own forestry work we are selling timber track side for £24 per ton.
  19. Here's a little somwthing that my wife knitted for my christmas present. Made from plastic carrier bags:thumbup:
  20. We have had an 1" fall in about 1/2 an hour, just as the schools were going home. Pasted about 40 abandened cars and alot of walking people. Thank heavans for my landrover and mud terrain's
  21. The nuffiels is a 10/60, and the cab does not reduce any noise, if anything with all the rattles it make it louder. However the cab also has the roll cage, and occasionally keeps the rain off.
  22. Long live fiberglass rods. You can go higher than any thing else, and practice your big game fishing at the same time !! Back on topic by a bigger van that the pole saw will fit in. Simple ehh
  23. If you want to profile Pembrokeshires scruffiest tree surgeons, then we would be happy to be profiled. We have an interesting range of old landrovers, tractors, and equipment.
