  1. Thanks for the heads up Mr B
  2. Crosses my mind from time to time . Its not all about the dollars , Quality of life is much more important . Give your price for a proper quality job and walk away .Although it did tend to niss me off when the job is done by another contractor and a total hash is made of whole thing . Now I,m pleased to say that secnario makes me smile Totally know where your coming from though
  3. Anything larger than the above then I will weld a solid metal shaft to the axe head .
  4. Well I have a rough looking 16mm 3 strand nylon lowering line for rough jobs . Its now needing replacing . So I thought how about the multiplait 8 strand version again at 16mm but without the hocking and kinking of the 3 strand ? I do own a nice lowering line used on the better sites
  5. Yes why not I always find if I am Grinding stumps on an end of row plot . They always seem to be the worse by far as builders bury all there crap on last plot You could always do a small test hole dig with your spade to check the ground before grinding .
  6. UOTE=Big T;1078293]Jobby jobbed!
  7. Yes we used to have 017s as a chipper saw as they are light . But Stihl have got issue's with carbs and just dont seem to be in the same league as they once were . I have used a few new huskys and they seem to be of a better class nowadays than Stihl . Echo well it will last you two years and then sell it and buy a new one . All the best
  8. Engine mounting holes are the same as the 13 hp Honda . That goes for both the launtop 13 and 16hp
  9. Need a new chipper saw to be honest as our Stihl 23 is getting on a bit It has lasted well even though its not a contractor's saw
  10. ABBEY GARDEN £248 includes spare chain two stroke and bar oil and delivery . Better deal IMO
  11. Good price that mate as ABBEY GARDEN are £248 . So at £231 its a good saving Although the £248 price includes spare chain and bar oil or two stroke ? Going to have one anyhow .
  12. Oak that Treequip did for me . Spent a while ringing the beggar up .
  13. Just checked them out Ant . They seem like a good little saw for the chipper fodder . Youtube have some good clips on them . Abbey Garden may sell them ? Might get one myself
  14. I'm sure the new Honda Gx390 are made in Thailand .
  15. Over tightening the belts on the main pulley can and will cause this problem . As Big T stated both he and I have put a 16hp clone engine on our chippers .It has been quite an amazing conversion considering the price . My copy engine has done easily 12hrs or chipping and not missed a beat . Recoil start is a tad flimsy but as said before the genuine Honda fits as does 99% of there parts .
  16. Holly stump n soil with flint = Top Dollar for grinding.
  17. I'll second all of that . Multi tip are brill . The ones pictured sure look as if they have been sharpened before .
  18. Ant it is due a medal after the work load it has completed of late . Thanks for the thought About time you posted some pics of your machine : ) If your after a petrol auger I may be able to direct you to a suitable seller of such goods . He did have a petrol Auger for sale 2 month ago will check to see if it is still available . Regards Paul.
  19. One of my local rivals gets his quotations signed when accepted . Which I originally thought was odd ? Then I found out that his company had booked a job in as a price was given and agreed by both parties concerned . Then when the job was due to take place my rival turned up at the job site only to find the tree had been removed a few days earlier ? So my rival took the client to court and won as a breach of contract had taken place . Therefore was awarded the full cost of the original tree removal and extra for the inconvenience . The only downfall to this was my rival was slated in the local papers Verbal quotes are not worth a tat . It does not matter how friendly they seem at the quotation stage . Somehow many clients turn into monsters when its time to pay up ? This written malarky also stops the ( Can you just brigade ) from abusing your services . As another arbtalk member said a while back ( I am happy to quote for any extras ) this is like the 11th commandment for tree workers ; )
  20. Hey Ant Petrol Augers are ok on Farmland / Woodland areas . Although they are crap on dometic jobs as the tend to find gas pipes , water pipies and even cables ?
  21. For me £130 and leave all grindings . If it was regular work ie you passed on lots of stumps £90 . Hope this helps .
  22. Can't help you with the parts info . Although as a first chipper it will be spot on . Bear in mind you will need to put a bit more effort into snedding branches before chipping
  23. He's done a top job on that chip box
  24. Got a Lime tree to pollard soon
  25. Actually quite impressed with the little beggars power ? Well considering its a drop of 2 hp and only has a single cylinder
