  1. Dave Chainsaw I started off with 3 Bow saws and one rubbish McCulloch 50cc Chainsaw over 20 years ago . Worked my little balls off 7 days if the work was there . Climbed some dangerous tree's ( not advisable ) but hey I was younger . I am not rich , just comfortable . Attack the world matey its all there you just got to find it . Be honest / fair and charge a reasonable rate . Oh and smile be polite and get the banter going . All the best in your quest .
  2. pic's would help
  3. Not to many pics . They have been used on Ash / Oak and Pine . They make me smile when wearing them as they cost virtually nowt Comparison pic's of some old gaffs next to the recent welded ones . Some people won't like the idea of welding new steel to older gaffs . I don't care this is not a debate just a few pics
  4. Simple really , Like it
  5. Nail on the head there Ant I have helped lots of younguns onto the path of employment . All bar one have turned out great . I know your a good bloke as you have helped me out recently . Some people just talk about doing things and this thread so far has led me to this conclusion . Time will pass this man by if he don't get a grip . Just my opinion . Some people expect to be spoon fed . Everything on a plate and delivered to the door . Even then some people feel hard done by . Big world out there David Chainsaw but you will never taste it from the sofa .

  12. Thats good business then
  13. I have just had a set welded up Longer than pole gaffs but shorter than tree gaffs . I call them intermediates Bloody ace they are .
  14. Just stick 4 one shots in ?
  15. Salt wont kill your Knotweed though
  16. Our drive is gravel and I simply sprinkle a few 1 kg bags of cheap cooking salt on a damp morning . Weed free drive in a week or so . Has to be damp so the salt will stick to the foilage . Bear in mind salt will harm plants . I also sprinkle salt on the old paving flags at my mums house . This helps kill the moss and the like on the patio .
  17. If its any help local farms to me are always after my chippings ? Some even ask for conifer ?
  18. No thats just bad business . Some money should be taken for it . Unless it was costing you to remove . Pop burns and is good in a mixed log sale .
  19. All our waste is recycled ie woodchippings go to equestrian centres / garden centres , All the log is sold on As far as I,m aware this make's 90% of tree surgeons in the uk not liable for any licence fees . Red tape malarky . Although as soon as I put a couch / settee on my van I am breaking the law ? Anyway the later does not look professional so I dont do it ; )
