  1. Interesting view point . I like it and it also makes sense
  2. Huck Im based near crewe / stoke I used yp for years and to be fair they helped me build a good customer base . Once you have built up a good reputation as you have done it is easy to say no to yp Parish mags and church mags are good . I mean last year I did less than 5000 miles in my landy . All local work and 10 mins from my yard
  3. An average of 2 / 3% increase in moisture from my summer time reading of 19 / 20 % all barn stored .
  4. I have had my echo pole pruner for probably 10 years and it has done some work . Although recently a local gardener friend of mine has bought a cheap version by the name Whitemoss pole pruner and heck it is identical to my echo version ?
  5. Thanks I will check on the bay now
  6. Thats Interesting as I tested my logs in late sept and most were averaging 19 / 20 % . Going to test them again see what they come in at
  7. Yes sorry it is . I would pay a £100 for a £1000 job though if it was to my liking . Most of the time it is a £ 20 quid note for a lucrative job or payment in logs which is better for me
  8. We cancelled YP and have never been so busy . Also by doing this we halfed our advertising budget and increased our profit . A good local parish mag will bring in the work . Maybe advertise in 4 or 5 local parish mags its still loads cheaper than Y P . Just speaking from what I have observed over the last year
  9. What a self centered git : ( Exactly why we keep a tight circle here and we all know the score . I pass you work and you pass me work . It doesnt always go to plan but hey life is full of ups n downs . Just be honest and fair and always share the rewards with those around you . ie Firewood guy gets me work he will get all the timber . If its a plumber or another trade he will usually get some dollars . Its suprising how much work you can get when you drop a bottle of whiskey off at christmas just to say thanks . I will always get gifts in return for my good deeds . I love sharing it makes me happy . Although I can see your point Huck and I dont always share the joy with people who I dont know . It takes time to build up a rapport with other tradesman who you dont know :thumbup1
  10. You had a rough day fella . Come on yp is a rip of we all know that . £1000 job I will happily give a local gardener / tradesman a £ 100 quid . Its not all about making money . Its also about greasing the wheels for the future and sharing the dough . Then we can all party
  11. Matey I would give you a ton for sure or take you and your lovely lady out for an all expenses paid night out at a venue of your choice Look after those who look after you . Simple really
  12. We only live in a small house . Heck when the little 5kw woodburner is kicked in the whole house is to hot within 2 hrs . I mean to the point of opening the windows ? Free fuel so what the heck . Only downside is we get lots of vistors in winter . Most of which we dont have owt to do with throughout the year but they still come the fickle beggars .................... Drink my plonk and whiskey they do . Well not this year as I have installed a gate . This means I can pretend to be out for the phoneys and in for the real people
  13. Matey I like it. Nice one
  14. Yes amen to that Mr Predator ...................... or maybe so fine Pilkingtons Glass as a roof
  15. Well thanks for all your pointers . I am now at a point where I am going to weld the skips together ie one on top of the other with a little chimney cut and welded to the top skip . I will be cutting the floor out of the bottom skip and replacing with a heavy duty mesh to allow air flow and ash removal . Hope to get this completed by late - mid Dec 2014 . Pics to follow when done
  16. Boom is the word I like it and thanks for posting
  17. Ha ha ha nice one billy goat on the grindings . Why didnt I think of that ? Does it clean up the soil and grindings to a respectable level ? You clever boy
  18. Rakings and most hedgecuttings get burnt in our own skips at the yard . Although sometimes I get my lady to do a few runs to the local tip with a few builders bags in her car
  19. Yeee Haaaaa return of the mac ............
  20. Whats even more annoying is the fact the some people pay top money for there advert and we havent even had one delivered inthe last two years . Just goes to show there are robbing beggars .
  21. Yes they keep sending me odd bills even though I finished with them over 12 months ago
  22. I stopped 12 months ago as there book is getting smaller and smaller whilst there bill is going up all the time . The new owners are billions in debt aka Hibu ? Y PAGES is only good for oap and people who do not have a computer . I put all my advertising into local mags and the like and have been busier than ever
  23. It is a class move and I really can see how it helps
  24. Fuel bowl underneath carb needs taking off and cleaning . Then a good spraying with a good carb n choke cleaner this should solve the problem
  25. I really do like the idea . You have done a top job on yours . Does it cause problems if your have a trailer in tow ? Clearance wise ? Regards Paul
