  1. Asking for trouble! Nut job
  2. No problem mate. Im gratefull whenever you manage to do it
  3. Ok so using the rope is a nifty little trick if your out of options. Or even if you do have some. And the plastic piston locking thingy () should have "oben top" facing upwards so you can read it. Next, at either end of said "thingy" one end is thicker then the other, from memory has "two lines" running down the side of it. Where should this end be? Inserted to the piston or the opposite? Cheers
  4. Just abit of advice. Someone i used to work with sufferd from alot of back problems and went to the doctor worried about where it was alll going. Doctor advised that due to the nature of work the arms and legs were very strong and the lower back hadnt strengthed at the same rate and was out of balance. He recommended yoga stretches every morning to strenghen the lower back. I would get the worrying niggle in my back randomly wen doing heavy work so I gave the stretches ago and have been doing them for the last four years and havent had ( touch wood ) a single minor problem with my back since, and thats climbing, stump grinding, dragging you name it. Priceless prevents the problem before its a problem. Takes 2 minutes every morning If you want details on how to do them pm me and ill explain it to you. But wait till your backs better first
  5. Mesterh. I know what you mean, as theres also differnent thicknesses either end of the tool, almost like an extra two lines. A diagram would be really helpfull so I can quickly get the saw sorted. Thanks Wolman and stephen blair. That sounds the way to go as them plastic things arent that great IMO. Im after a quick fix at the mo to get running but i will definitly invest in that new tool for the future. I did see a man use a piece of nylon rope on you tube as he said it has more give. I can see what hes saying but i would worry about bits of rope breaking off? Thats another idea that might help someone out if they dont have black plastic thingy tool () to hand.
  6. Anyone?
  7. Afternoon everyone. Just a question about locking the engine ( stihl chainsaw) with that black plastic tool they give you. Reason is im not sure exactly how your meant to do it as the tool can be used so its facing up or facing down if you know what I mean. Ive changed clutches before without any problems but yesterday snapped the end of the tool in my 361. So though id better find out the exact way to do it Thanks in advance Damian
  8. Ive heard hes thinking of making a comeback. Been watching his tv show. Yet to watch the last episode which reminds me. I know you cant judge too much from the way someone fights in an action film but he definitly knows a thing or two about fighting!
  9. Andrew Im climbing in mine all day tomorrow so i should be on in the evening with abit more info. Felt really comfy today though and theres alot of adjustments that can be made so should be a safe bet. What are you used to climbing in?
  10. No worries mate i saw you was busy. Yeah I look forward to giving it a go tomorrow. Have a big oak tree to start dismantling so should be a good test for it. It feels like the harness to have though. Ill update this thread soon with abit more info. Or maybe tomorrow if im over enthusiastic about how great it is
  11. Cheers for all your replys . I stopped by jonesies today and tried out a couple. unfortunately the weaver wasnt there to try but i had a swing in the petzl and skylotec. Petzl was great for its simplicity but im just making the changeover from a seat harness and for me i think it would get abit uncomfy after a few hours. Then skylotec which i thought was great. was like an armchair. I was abit particular about back support as the positioning of the bridge on my dragonfly put alot of pressure on the back. The skylotec is differnt though it puts all the weight on the legs and the leg pads are like a seat for each leg. So im happy with that. The real test will be wen im next up a tree so tall that i can see into the neighbours garden but so far was super comfy and thats without all the little adjustments you can make on it. The biggest downside was that i only wanted to pay 10 quid for it but unfortunatley it was more then that
  12. Thats good news about the weaver as that was a harness i was considering aswell. Its on the better end of the price scale as well Id go for the seated one, those leg loops look a little too narrow to be comfortable. Whats clumsy about it? Ive read that people get snagged while working through the crown in them but i thought that could happen to you in any harness? Cheers andrew but ive got to choose one by thursday. Theres still a chance i could get one though. if so we will rant about how great they are next week. lol
  13. Ive got to replace my old harness (dragonfly). Overall i was happy with it but d rings for side strop got abit pinchy at times and belt buckle loosened after a while which was a nuisance so fancy something new. Main thing for me is back support. You need your back so im trying to look after it as best as i can. I looked at the willans with sliding bridge. Bit old school but its a good solid harness. Tree flex sounds good aswell I know in the end ill have to try them out and see which one suits me best whats good for one isnt another but im interested in peoples opinions of harnesses and back support. Cheers
  14. Thats my understanding of it aswell. Why take the risk with someone that isnt insured considering the problems it could cause?
  15. Looks like you could rig off the ash tree next to it, If you was worried about it failing you could even anchor into that tree and only ever by stropped into the tree with the disease. Its abit of a fiddle but alot more reassuring if your concerned for your safety. Pictures can deceptive though
  16. Is there much power differnce between the 2?
  17. Why do you think bear grylls is an idiot?
  18. pre ordered mine from sainsburys and got it for just under 30 quid. bargain. I thought it was going to be alot dearer then that but im not complaining. I no a few ppl who booked time off work for it! Madness. lol. they must have lots of money. Ive had a few sort of late nights but thats it. I enjoy cutting trees down in the pouring rain far too much to be stuck indoors in the warm shooting people!!
  19. Thats abit disrespectfull to the cod. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
  20. I never worry about waterproof trousers, type c chainsaw trousers are ok. For jackets nothing beat north face IMO. Paid £50 for a waterproof shell and its great never let a drop of water threw and ive been in some hard rain with it. Then just put an appropriate fleece on under neath as the shell wont keep you warm. Easy as that youll never fear working in the rain again.
  21. Your bang on with that mate
  22. I thought he was nuts with some of the ideas he thought of. Then he followed them right through till the end!! Top bloke. I bet i wasnt the only one who eyed up that wopper pile of beautifull log wood on that farm!!!
  23. ah mate that lorry is the funniest thing ive seen in ages! Imagine what that must have looked like if you was following it!!!!!!!!! My laughter died of abit wen i saw the state of that cab. That could have been a serious injury. Or might have been???
  24. What is it that you actually want to do for a job?
  25. Whenever i use a bigger saw or any saw its always stihl. I like husky tho, 357xp with 18 inch bar and razor sharp chain was a lovely little saw to use
