  1. Stevie have you still got your 'back of tree only' spikes?
  2. Fellas what do you call the cut that works on really heavy laterals? 2 undercuts at about 45 degrees meeting in the centre, top cut slightly back. Can't remember the bloody name! Sounds like this would work in this situation, but upside down as such.
  3. If that Beech burns ok Stevie will be making some kind of 'seasoning processor' by mounting an industrial freezer unit on a D8 chassis. Can't wait for pics!
  4. Moz it may be worth checking if you can upgrade now. Iphone tariffs are price fixed, and you can often upgrade early as long as you lock in to a new contract. Best phone I've ever had, easy. Rumour has it that the next generation out this summer will have a better camera, but if you waited for model up stuff all the time you would never buy anything!
  5. Is the job finished Stevie? Been a great series of vids. Especially the 'don't try this at home kids' trick at the end!
  6. Nice work mate. I have a bull rope just like that one!
  7. Totally. Awkward bits first, every time. Added bonus is you can enjoy the rest of the job afterwards.
  8. 'Bit of a mess that one, love. £700 alright?' Stunning.
  9. Good call IMO, and your client seems a sensible sort. Can't comment on lowering/MEWP etc just by reading words on a computer screen. Jobs do sometimes change while you are doing them. I would guess most on here don't carry out an aerial inspection at the quote stage? Communication is the key, and you seem to have that covered. Good luck with it, let us know how you get on. (I would have climbed it.)
  10. Stevie have you not got mixed up with Wallace's Monument here?
  11. That would only work with a massive ad campaign to raise public awareness, and rigorous enforcement. Cracking pipe dream though!
  12. Talked to some brigade mates about this. If they get called, and decide not to put it out, they are in the s*** if it gets out of control later on. So they will nearly always put it out.
  13. Macca I've got a pop to fell near Toulouse if you fancy towing a chipper?
  14. You loon! Lucky that wasn't a top! Big tree that.
  15. But water tastes so much nicer hot. With a teabag, milk and 2.
  16. Good shape, like it. Some tough climbing there I reckon.
  17. Stretch Airs all day. My zip went, fixed at a dry cleaners for £13 with a zip you could hang your truck off (even with Mozza in it) and reinforcement stitching in the perineum area on Jonesie's advice. Utterly bullet proof. I've had 6 pairs of Hiflex, and would never go back. Anything less than Stretch Airs is a compromise.
  18. You have no idea how strong I am Rupe. Going to have a play with that tomorrow.
  19. I see now. I'd probably pull it on the way down!
  20. Nice work on a ring-tickling tree Rupe. Cracks me up the way your dog behaves exactly like mine when you are on descent! Was that the felling point at the end? If so I'm presuming your climbing line isn't retrievable from there? Looked a nice place to be working.
  21. Just watched the full set Stevie. Top notch stuff, especially the big Syc at the end. I was more excited about that than any fell I have done this year!
