  3. yes but it's quart to eleven now, what should i do?
  4. Where David, you been smoking those banana skins again?
  5. No its a petrol, the chinese engines are pretty good to be honest, starts first time every time. The main problems are cheap pumps, rams and wether you get a "Friday night one"! don't get me wrong, it's split a lot of wood and is still going but i am always tinkering with something to keep it going. To be honest for 1600 quid i would go for a quality machine but second hand from either a dealer or someone you trust also it will hold it's value so if you don't get on in the log job at least you can sell it again, chinese stuff is really worth nowt second hand, just my opinion as i got a friday night machine.
  6. Sounds to me like the fuel tank vent is blocked, when it runs it's causing a vacumn so leans out, as you take the tank top off you let air in so it get the right amount of fuel again, hope it makes sence!
  7. I aim for 300 quid a day for me and a groundie and chipper, less for hedge cutting. garden work/landscaping 150 a day for me, i don't really budge from these prices as there at the bottom end of the range round me. grinding priced by the inch. some people are working for the sake of it at the moment round me, day job for 2 men and chipper 200 quid, not for me thanks.
  8. Oh well thats the L/A for ya:001_tongue: Us poor self employed bods have to make do with sharpening em Bob!
  9. Just wondering how you chaps out ther stump grinding are sharpening your teeth? I have a bench grinder with a green wheel that does ok, just a pain taking the teeth out all the time, anyone using one of the diamond blades in a small angle grinder from saturn machine knives and if you what they like? They sound good, can sharpen teeth whilst in machine so saves a lot of hassle but at 70 quid a go i dont want to waste me dosh! Ta Ian
  10. Top stuff Ed, lots of big boys toys on that job! Always good to have a new challange mate.
  11. So it is fit for purpose as you have just said you WOULD pass it, im not bothered about your comments about best practice etc etc, it either passes or fails according to a laid down standard not what you think is right or wrong. Brings up the argument again as to why we LOLER stuff as it seems you all have differant takes on what you think is good and bad.
  12. Really! how strange, i got my set up from trees unlimited in Leeds complete with snap hook from a long time tree climber and LOLER inspector! great bit of kit and totally safe. Goes to show even LOLER inspectors cant agree on whats good or not!
  13. Same here, great bit of kit, good to use and simple.
  14. Always a catch, thought the idea was too good to be true.
  15. Will do mate, be useful if i get over that way. If i tip chip off are you going to fill me up with logs? favour for a favour:001_tongue:
  16. I have one, good little saw to be honest, great for working of ladder with ey Dean
  17. I have a Makita 26cc top handle, very simular in design, good for light pruning, laurel reductions and croen cleans, thats what i got it for, well pleased with it as long as you use it for the right job.
  18. Verry nice that Jonny, was going to say your missus has good taste but then how did she end up spliced to you!
  19. As a wild guess Dean i would say " a contractor approved by the council":001_tongue:
  20. Think thats a late 90s machine and will need a bottom bar fitted, get Jonh from arbtech on here to have a look he's a mech dealer.
  21. Got a couple of krabs and a whoopie sling from justin thats about it really, had a great time and good to meet some guys from here, Skyhucks axe is the dogs whatsits! makes him look like a proper viking:001_tongue:
  22. I got a greenmech cm220 and it's a spot on machine, as with any machine look after it and it will look after you!
  23. This is an origional Arbor eater made my Micheal dalrymple in the 80s, a very good machine in there time and still ok now. they go up to about 1500 quid for a good one. some parts are still available from arbor eater. If your just setting up this could be a good machine, simple cheap and will do the job just dont expext 4 tons an hour of hard wood like a modern roller fed chipper. you might be better off buying an older simpler machine in good nick than a cheap moden machine thats been hammered and is knackered!
