  1. 3-4 days work there, no where near 3.5k. i did a landscape job this week, 3.5 days on the job, bill was 2.6k after wages made £1375 out of a bit of building that i got someone els to do, barrow 14t of soil in, a bit of turfing and a bit of small tree work. 4 lads on site aswell so i didnt really do much to be honest. you can make more money doing this than tree work IMO but i like the tree work more. Mini digger with a man £150 for a day Grab wagon £220 for 16t taken away a days conny bashing and a few fence panels to put up Have a go john, makes a change if nowt else.
  2. 6'5" and 17.5 stone of pure idiot here!
  3. They need to be ground on a proper grinder, Call a arb hire place and ask if they do blade grinding failing that send em to Saturn machine knives, there on the net.
  4. Yes to "saddo that lives on computer"
  5. Getting a GOOD engine will be the hard bit, i nearly bought a grinder with a blown motor but thought better of it as finding the right engine for the right money is a pain in the arse.
  6. Think you might have gone a bit heavy there, kept the shape though.
  7. We should NOT be proude to work cheap, we are trained, provide expensive kit and a professional service, go to any garage and ask a garage owner if he will do your car for £10 an hour instead of £35 and see what the answer is! My Wife is a sister in a big Hostpital, yes she earns a good wage but by christ does she work for it, works harder than me thats for sure and no one can say tree work is easy. Traffic wardens aint in our league, there tw@ts in a uniform when enjoy a bit of power and normally were abused as a child.
  8. He won't be around for long though, once something like his van or chipper engine goes pop he wont have the money to fix it then he cant do the job. I REFUSE to work for just a wage, i give my rate for the job and thats it, i have to make a bit of profit plus a basic wage. Bumped into another local surgeon at the garage the other day, 51 plate tranny with knackered greedy boards, no sighn writing, knackered mid 90's chippit on the back and when i asked if he got a job we both quoted on he was smiling when he said yes, 5 30ft totally knackered pop pollards to take down in a nice garden and take away for 500 quid, there will be shite every where, no wonder they have knackered kit. I quoted £650 and the bloke said thats what i was expecting and a fair price!
  9. Thought about doing this for a while as it seems so easy and less handling, how are people delivering them though? do you take them in the bag and just tip it up and leave the bag or tip it out at the yard and deliver loose. i thought about building the price of a bag into the cost per bag and just tipping it out at the punters, any thoughts.

Mine are £3:50 a net just like yours and there still cheap compared to the big diy stores and petrol stations, if they say there expensive just send em on there way!
  11. Alan Mason has a few in, look nice and tidy aswell, about 5k gets a good un. you still got the little ryco pedestrian grinder?
  12. what about a vermeer 252? good machine and get one for a good price 2
  13. Seen the pred on flebay mate, why you selling? not happy with it?
  14. Too right David, take note Deano, me and Dave have some upmarket customer you know. Cant believe you know her aswell David:001_tongue:
  15. Im thinking of going down this route next year, vented bags only and multiples of, no "loose loades" etc. I know what im selling, the punter knows what there getting and i know how much i have for sale and less handling. there are regs regarding using bulk bags more than once, thats why the builders yards dont. Im going to build the cost into the price of the load and just drop it off at the customers and leave it.
  16. Good post, thats when men were men and sheep were scared! love the working practices, when common sense and hard work ruled and not so much H+S jobs worth, keeping office people busy bull sh1t. Proper hard work that.
  17. Was gonna ask Dean why you had a pikey stood on top of your landie, then realised it is you...............i'm soooo silly sometimes:001_tt2:
  18. I priced a job 2 weeks ago for a old carribean guy, flash house in a nice place of town etc, 200 quid to reduce a beech hedge thats all, told me too much five times, called me 2 days later to say i had the job! booked it in for last week, was chucking it down on the day so called them and said i would be there in the morning "ok thats no problem" i was told, turned up on the day only to be told not to do it as they had got a cheaper quote the day before...............billed them for wasted time and journey, won't get it but worth a try.
  19. You need a structual engineer in to do the workings out.
  20. That is such a fitting Avatar Dave.......................it's sooooooooo you!
  21. Happy birthday mate, cant believe your 40. you must of had one hell of a long paper round......
  22. If you cant afford it, simple answer is dont do it! If you boiler was faulty would you try fix it yourself? guess not then. Look on the net and do a bit of resaerch on accidents over the years from "weekend warriors" then make a desision. If you have to work off a ladder the tree is above your limits. Leave tree work to professionals and keep your health.
  23. Too true Barry, you have some top guys down there, John knows his stuff alright, just need a depot manager who know out now!
