  1. good for you Big Joe, hope ya pass mate, you gonna be Simons personal driver then?
  2. Jon, he wouldn't happen to based in Tadcaster would he?
  3. I dont, i was in the prison service for 14 years, came across it all in that time, scroates by the boat load, and quite a few nice guys on man slaughter charges for one thing and another, you would be supprised how EASY it is to end up in the nick for an accident at work. Each to there own, as long as we all sleep easy and are comfortable with life then theres no worries.
  4. Am sure track record does count and some one like your self doing it for 30 years shows you know what your doing, it's just a sad blame culture world were in Dave and YES Fred was working at the right time, am sure the great man would of hated it as it is today. will be far worse for the young ones now when there our age. You can be self taught at anything Dave all im saying is when it goes wrong some jobs worth office boy is waiting to pounce and have you, it keeps him in a job!
  5. What if you injured a passer by or killed someone, i aint bothered about the insurance, things can be repaired bricks and motar and all that, it's life that will sting when it goes wrong.
  6. You can argue with who you like if the judge says you guilty your guilty, its not just to do with insurance, if you killed someone due to a cock up the first thing they would look for is some form of official training, untrained and in court on a man slaughter charge, who do you think will cop for it? its a blame game, not saying its right and not saying cos you got this ticket or that ticket that makes you better than some one else its the world we live in, move on from the 1970s.
  7. Nice bit of kit, 9k starting bid though, MMMMMMMM shall i? No best not, beast the groundie a bit longer......
  8. Give over.............try puttin both legs on next time.
  9. i dont have th 40 so does mean i shouldnt have done it ? No, cs 40 if im right isnt really needed its pruning so more for you own benefit really.
  10. Your welcome oh master Frank the great one......
  11. I have cs 40/41 and yes your right cs39 lets you cut branches, HSE would say your NOT qualified to dismantle without a cs41. Having the tickets though dont make you any good, i'm not in Reg coats or a few on here league and i dont pretend to be but i can hold my own and do what i need to and if i cant i get someone that can.
  12. No Frank, i know what he means, i know a landscaper that does small conny's and trees etc, no basic chainsaw ticket, no training so no insurance to use one. He dont even know about sharpening and kick back etc! You will be suprised how mant "Landscapers" dont know about chainsaw tickets, cos you can get them from B+Q they think you just go use em as you would a spade. There not all the same but most i have come across near me are.
  13. Yeah on second thouhts you right..........they are thick
  14. The pud HAS to be cut right i'll have you know "Mr Stockbridge" not like you sloppy southerners, we cut with presision. OH and how dare you insult his greatness? Thats turned me agains you lot for life now, let the civil war begin! If i ever come to kent im gonna Sh1t in the footwell of that banger of yours!!!!!
  15. I know its not hard, mine was as i have a diploma in food hygiene, nothing will stop accidents, thats human nature, but a little training helps. The amount of gardeners/Landscapers who i see digging and hacking with chainsaws makes me laff, Not there fault, they dont know any better.
  16. Get your point but a cake mixer really aint dangerouse is it? well not in the same legue as a saw. wonder how many major accidents are recorded with the HSE for kenwood mixed accidents? And you should go to class and learn basic food hygiene.
  17. Its called basic training, and its there to prevent accidents......!!!!!! Am not saying chainsaws should be banned etc, what i was getting at was that if the HSE want accident to fall the only way is to insist on training and regulate things... Hygiene certs were not compulsery untill about 10yrs ago but they are now, to control a situation.
  18. So its ok to blame someone because they dont know any better? Its the "im alright jack attitude" then. Not saying it has to be silly but if HSE want accidents down the only way is to insist on some form of basic training to show people the dangers! To work in a cafe you need by law a basic food hygiene cert just to make sarnies.....why? to enlighten people to the danger of food poisoning, so why not other thing if its deemed necessary? Common sense is good but if you don't know how to use something common sense wont teach you the right way will it!
  19. Agree, i know of a good few Landscapers that think all we do is "chop" em down at the bottom, also many have no chainsaw training or basic knowlage. With the amount of accidents chainsaws should NOT be sold to the gen public with out say a 1/2 day basic course and proof of completion, nothing rocket science and nowt like we do just the real basics.
  20. Proper job Reg.......all that training with SWB is paying off mate!
