  1. Send the boy into the village to bring me a ham and cheese sandwich, go on Luke run
  2. So I lost my proof of certs so I needed a new one. A few weeks ago I called the NPTC to sort it out and got no reply or answerphone all day long and I called dozens of times. The online form they want you to fill in and post wants payment details INCLUDING the secret number off the back of the card, well that wasn't going to happen so I didn't get my new card and went of muttering about piss poor service. So once again I am asked for proof of certs by a client so I called NPTC without much confidence. The phone answered within 2 rings, I told them what I needed, they took some details and payment and my new card is on the way, they did promise an email confirming the certs to show the client and that has yet to land but nevertheless we are looking at a much needed 100% improvement in service
  3. That was the standard fit engine
  4. Its not as eco bad as it might seem, your tranny load is a lot more inefficient than a big assed boat carting tens of thousands of tons at a time.
  5. That's brave, you haven't seen the chassis. Not even sure you can get the flexitor suspension units anymore
  6. Last one of those I owned threw a wheel off going down a Pennine hill and ended on its side in a ditch:001_rolleyes:
  7. No that was the champ, it wasn't that bad, it had a reverser so you could use all gears in reverse, give that to a squaddie and watch him use it. The gypsy's Achilles heel was its wheel security, if you left the split pin out the entire wheel and drum would come off while you were driving:confused1:
  8. Like you say, you would need to know and trust the driver
  9. Its NOT AN APPLICATION, its a notification, there is a difference. "They" would like you to think its the same because it gives them wriggle room to negotiate with those who don't understand the process, insisting on using their paperwork reinforces this. The process goes like this, you tell them what you intend to do, they have the option of making a TPO to prevent you or they can simply let you get on with it, they don't have the authority to negotiate on a 211.
  10. Eric Hunter were the distributor but there is no sign of TS or Saleen (the owners of TS) on hunters website Most wear parts such as bearings are off the shelf items and can be sourced from industrial suppliers.
  11. Only if you don't do your job properly, its a system, as long as you follow the rules its simple and you don't get prosecuted.
  12. :thumbup1:
  13. As long as the "refusal" wasn't a refusal to accept the notification on the grounds that it wasn't in the correct format. The notification needs to identify the tree and the proposed works, this usually means a schedule of works and a (sheepdog) map dated and preferably the submission recorded. There are some authorities that believe the notification should be on their paperwork, this is not the case but some have tried to refuse to process notifications on those grounds. If that's the case and the notification was otherwise in order it stands.
  14. Its not that complicated, the engine has a basic start charge circuit and if the machine has a stress control that's going to have a live feed to the box and a control wire to the solenoid valve. If you explain what the no stress does any auto electrician worth the name ought to be able to sort it out
  15. Naaah that's OK, it was a well executed job and that manoeuvre was clearly planned, the crane driver knew what was going on and did his job well. A cambium saver in the hook would have reduced the (remote) chance of the rope nipping as the chains came under load but other than that I cant fault it.
  16. In a conservation area you don't apply, you notify. This allows the LA the opportunity to make a TPO in respect of the trees to protect them. They cant refuse the works they can only make an order or do nothing allowing you to carry out the notified works. They can refuse the notification if it is procedurally incorrect but its hard to mess up a 211 notification
  17. They are a lot like a defender but you have somewhere to put your elbow:laugh1:
  18. Depends on what you are going to use the winch for occasional use in short bursts, self recovery or pulling the occasional tree over then you can go with an electric winch Anything more than the above and you are going to need mechanical or hydraulic drive
  19. You have 2 set ups there the direct drive is set up properly and looks to be complete, the remainder is a hydraulic PTO set up minus the winch, I would be interested in the hydraulic parts if you want to sell.
  20. You need to read the forum rules
  21. Regular ply can be lethal slippery but you can grip it up a bit with some cheap paint and grit sand. Other than that the stuff they use from new is called phenolic faced plywood
  22. No it wont, but it will give some idea what the minority that can be bothered voting think:laugh1:
  23. Oh yeah, I went to a farm sale near Huddersfield yesterday, it snowed.....
  24. Welcome to the club Dean, I have a singer industrial table machine (skip rescue) at the yard. Handy thing it is too
  25. It didn't grow back from the old wood it must have had a bit of green left. Yew grows back because it is a proper tree not some scummy interspecific hybrid
