  1. Hmmm When we needed the extra long length for the "Holmfirth, half way up a vertical banking" job, I explained to the nice man at Marlow in Heywood said it was suitable for lowering. I don't think its static. Marlow's website describes it as "shock absorbing" Pre-Spliced Dockline Either way, I am well off for lowering kit but a bit of something for dragging stuff over wont go amiss. Got a clearance job breaking out tomorrow so I will give it a try on that.
  2. Be that as it may they kind of had to extend the warranty on these units because the only alternative would have been a second recall, which would have been a catastrophe. Extended warranty bad, recall worse.
  3. Am I not right in thinking that there is no actual dimension stated in the statute and therefore no statutory clearance? If that's the case you surely cant be "had" for exceeding a statutory dimension that doesn't exist?
  4. Bob you are the man, and I should know better. Ed bought a full reel of this for a hideous Beech removal in Holmfirth. Who would have thought Hade Edge farm sale would be the place to find a cheap rigging rope!
  5. Ha ha You need to look at it when it aint plastered in mud, there isn't a straight panel on it, the greedy box is made out of an old ally van body that was lying around my yard I had to put the tailgate back together last month because ED uses it to bull dose chip with
  6. Well the trace is a single strand on mine but it does feel a lot like Yale double esterlon, except I haven't seen that in white
  7. Need a rope identifying I bought a length of this at a farm sale today Its 20mm dia. it has a 16 strand jacket and an 8 pair strand core, its got a small green trace. Any ideas?
  8. Its tennex but 13 and 16 from Nod at Treeworker Got the rings here Antal Low Friction Rings - From £8.25 - Force 4 Chandlery
  9. So I made a couple of whoopee slings with some Antal rings spliced in to the ends Thought they might be useful for a bit of micro rigging and re directing a lowering line to keep it out of mischief. Note to self, buy some more shrink tube
  10. But how many more cubic metres are there in a howling winter wind compared to a still summers day?
  11. Is the thread stripped, is it wound out or has it broken off
  12. No mate, it was under a fleece and a big coat:laugh1:
  13. Been there, done that, got the t shirt
  14. Agreed but go easy with the 4mm ones, they are a bit more to the brittle side than others
  15. Oregon are OK files. Technique is important, don't drag them back in the tooth
  16. What make are the files, some are more equal than others
  17. Yup, any box chassis will do that, if you take the engine breather pipe and lead it in there, the oily vapour will help prevent the tinworm
  18. Get the waxoyl warm before application, goes on much easier
  19. Except that its an un braked trailer in excess of 750kg:001_rolleyes:
  20. Here is a pretty significant design fault that the manufacturer is going to have to address before it kills someone. On a serous note powder coat is pants on square edges and particularly stamped parts, it would only take seconds on a linisher to round the corner and stop it cracking and forming a lovely place for rust. A machine in fine fettle please
