  1. Dieu merci!
  2. I suspect thinner barked species could get sunburn but I think your oaks would be fine Timon.
  3. Are you allergic to ivy sime? A couple of colleagues of mine hate the stuff because the have an allergic reaction to it. I don't suffer myself but I wonder if others on here have a skin reaction when working with the plant? It does not kill the tree outright but does compete with it for light, water and nutrients, thereby slowing the growth of the tree until eventually it may outcompete it.
  4. Great quality imagery but I also felt the content was lacking. Would have been nice to have seen more of the ground operations as this would have been where the majority of the graft was done. Thanks for posting though.
  5. Not a problem on longer posts but on short posts it appears to be a set distance from the top of the post. It does not appear to account for additional information in the posters info box i.e. only affects posts with posters location info (where displayed).
  6. Yep Chrome.
  7. Yep mine are migrating up each post now too! Like Peasgood says, not a huge issue but just a little irritating.
  8. I know. It's like sooo annoying when you hear 'adults' do it too.
  9. From the title I thought this was going to be a thread about teenage boys and girls who cannot seem to recount a conversation without starting with "I'm like..., he/she was like...." I cannot fathom why this would be easier than "I said...., he/she said". Not that this has anything to do with the thread
  10. Errr... I think you have completely missed the point I was making. Not to worry. Happy Christmas fella.
  11. I think you have got the wrong end of the stick there, he was making reference to the contractors cutting the trees not your videos. I think if you were seen to be impartial in your films and gave a more balanced coverage of the issues, then people would be more willing to answer your questions here.
  12. In what way is it ridiculous?
  13. Sorted on Chrome too.
  14. I give up!
  15. The point I was trying to make, probably badly, was that protesters stunts tend to get people's attention focused on their cause no matter how idiotic or misguided they might seem. Whether it be standing in front of tanks, hanging from Buckingham Palace in a Batman suit, or hanging onto branches due to be fed into a chipper. I am neither condemning or condoning the individual actions just pointing out that we are all talking about it. So his stunt has achieved something. No?
  16. Just checked out some of your videos, "a little biased" I think you need to reassess . I think you might get short shrift here.
  17. Some of you may think the guy is a moron but I find it interesting that this has been shared widely on facebook and other forums. Although his actions may appear to be stupid, he has single handedly brought the plight of trees in Sheffield to the attention of a wider audience. Whilst the particular trees shown in this video may not be memorial trees there are plenty of other trees that are and which a scheduled for felling. There are many Sheffield residents that are aggrieved by the felling of perfectly healthy and commemorative trees in their city. Whilst their protests should be directed at local government the protestors feel they are not being heard so instead take direct action. I am sure there are some members of this forum who feel the protester who stood in front of the procession of tanks in Tiananmen Square was also a moron.
  18. Sorry. I take that back.It is better but in some posts that "action bar" (for want of a better name) is still blocking some posters info. Such as location info.
  19. Not working on my PC yet.
  20. The piece of climbing equipment that most significantly helped me climb and increased my productivity has to be rope. The transition from nylon three ply to modern climbing rope and then the more recent transition to semi-statics has helped immensely. Hardware has also assisted with the journey but modern rope has made the greatest contribution.
  21. I realise that the program was aimed at the general masses but was disappointed by the level of dumbing down. e.g."So trees are just like us, when they are thirsty they take a drink" and when Judy Dench said her life consisted of trees and champagne I thought to myself "much like my own judy". Although it was nice to see Lynne Boddy on the telly.
  22. Wow! Crazy! Where's my wallet?
  23. I thought escape routes were supposed to be at 45degrees. Perhaps he didnt want to get in the way of his camera.
  24. Technology is also making us more sedentary. We dont have to get out of our seats to answer a phone, change TV station, flip a record to the B side etc. We can also order our shopping on-line, correspond with people many miles away at the touch of a keyboard and buy takeaways using our mobile phones. Even those who look thin may have significant fat around their internal organs due to a more sedentary life style. Perhaps people in other European countries don't have the same level of access to technology or just have a healthier attitude to it an better outlook on life, on average?
