  1. A Norwegian blue eh? Isn't that a deceased parrot? Do you mean Picea pungens?
  2. I enjoyed watching that. It was well put together. I particularly liked the carefully selected, quality leylandii log you were using for a workbench at the start! Have you ever thought of a career in modelling?
  3. They look a bit rough and unfinished. Why might they be better than using your hand? Only thing I can think of is that they may stop your gloves getting trapped in the rope.
  4. was ist das?
  5. How were they lined? Fiberglass or pvc? What was the process? Sorry for the slight derail OP!
  6. Interesting stuff eggsarascal. Thanks for the links. So it seems that the best solution would be to use as few pipe joints as possible when using modern plastic pipework or to sink your drains over 10m down (unlikely in the UK)! Have you ever sleeved drains to resolve issues like this?
  7. How terrible. Such a sad start to the show.
  8. Yeah what he said. I didn't think that tree roots broke into drains? Just exploited already damaged drains (see AATechies earlier response). I am another advocate for just leave it alone. But if you must "top it" I think 1 man could easily do that within half a day with a hand saw. So £85 doesn't seem too far off the mark.
  9. Interesting perspective from the crane if not somewhat surreal. Great stuff.
  10. Wearing my NPTC hat I would say you have just failed the module for felling hung up trees.
  11. The scientific name for a bad crotch is Tinea cruris.
  12. I try to stay on good terms with tree officers. For the council's that want their own particular forms filled in I just fill them in electronically and email them. Never had any problems with this approach.
  13. For multiple stems I measure the diameter of each stem work out the total basal area and then work out the equivalent diameter for that basal area.
  14. I gave up years ago, and like you, just did the "cold turkey" i.e. no replacement therapies. It worked for me. There are many months of coughing up all manner of badness knows what and that just spurred me on. Now I can't even stand the smell of cigarettes and I even find the vapes irritating when unselfishly shared in the cab by one of my groundies. I know, there is nothing worse than a reformed smoker! But I don't bang on about it. Stick with it and try and get yersels off the vapes, gum, patches etc.
  15. I understood that that was one theory but have yet to see any concrete research that confirms it as the cause.
  16. I would be interested in knowing the cause too Old Mill.
  17. Ahhh....but does your milkshake bring all the boys to the yard?
  18. I am sure they must have an equivalent. No?
  19. You would measure dbh at the same height as your Adam's apple.
  20. I remember those things but I don't think they area available anymore. Do you know a supplier?
  21. Quite good if you do maintenance pruning on palm trees. I looked into using them for using on some larch trees with no safe TIPs -but they don't make them big enough.
  22. I have used kernmaster and bee-line and found that the Knut was more reliable than a VT (It was Adam Bourne who turned me on to this. Thanks Adam!) So try a knut and see how you get on.
  23. Sounds interesting. I would be interested in seeing some photographs of your build and your chosen cladding.
  24. Corrugated iron sheets?
