  1. What is the back plastic dangly bit for? Is it for tethering your saw? If not where do you tether it?
  2. There ya go chap. Belt and braces
  3. There's one for mountain access too....
  4. Is that the pink one that squeaks when you walk?
  5. It's a Fireus woodius or possibly a rather sickly western hemlock.
  6. That is a stonker. Any idea of the height? Whereabouts is this tree?
  7. Fascinating. Thanks for that Norbert!
  8. I think you need to speak to your employer to find out whether the CS41 is a company requirement or necessary for insurance purposes. If not, tell your friend to take a long walk...
  9. I thought that was a bit queer too! Sounds like it could be bad science to me. Anyway how about nominating Armillaria as fungus of the year?
  10. Allow? Strange question. I was doing complicated dismantles with and without rigging a long time prior to having any climbing tickets. The NPTC qualification just confirms, to anyone who might be interested, that the holder has demonstrated that they are competent in carrying out certain tasks in a safe manner. Its is not a permission to carry out such work.
  11. The rope wrench is my preference.
  12. Very neat Graham. What is the deal with the square timber posts? Is it a competition thing? Or is it because there is a lack of suitable material coming from the hedge itself?
  13. I have PM'd you back. I don't have a video camera but I am happy to give honest feedback on this forum.
  14. Its had a pretty good innings. 200 years! Just glad someone had the foresight to propagate some clones. I hope they plant one Mrs Harrison's garden.
  15. Ah I see...shaved his legs then he was a she. I thought the video was thoroughly unconvincing. Perhaps you should have used "inside lad" conditions? But in all seriousness the "leading brand chain" comparison does look rather suspect. Compare the size and quantity of chip coming out of each cut. To do a fairer comparison you really need to use two brand new chain loops on the same size and make of saw. Would I try it? I am rather attached to my leading brand (Stihl) full chisel chain. If you were to send me a free loop I would try it out. If it equalled the performance of the Stihl chain of course I would buy it..... ....its a no brainer.
  16. I think he meant blue steel. You know, like this.....
  17. No PPE. Shocking!
  18. Looks like privet in flower to me. Can you get a better photo? Or at least some closeups of this white foliage?
  19. It does look like powdery mildew. I like the tree/fence interaction in the last picture!
  20. How effective is this as a means of control? What is the reasoning behind this method?
  21. Fair play. I was kind of hoping you would get it and post some pics of the extent of decay.
  22. Yeah nifty isn't it. At least it spares you looking at my ugly mug!
  23. If they were mine I would fell and replant further away from the wall.
  24. Sounds like you don't particularly want the job:sneaky2:
