  1. Switched off after he dropped the saw...nearly puked my ring up! just watching someone using a chainsaw of a ladder brings me out in a cold sweat...
  2. Well put Skyhuck...and i for one would rather be an oldie on a rope than a pensioner on a shoestring! ha ha.
  3. The "Age" thing crops up again. "It,s a young man,s game"..."You can,t climb forever" etc,etc... my view and probably the view of a lot of us older Arborists is all down to genes physicality, stamina and love of tree climbing. I,m 44. I,ve had the mid life crisis.Had the hernia opperation. Spawned a child who is now 22 and won the Novice pole climbing competition last year in Yorkshire...and in September i,ll be a Grandfather so hopefully my 3rd generation tree climber! Trees are my life and i still love everything about this industry..i,ll still regard it as a hobby first and a means of employment second...i am stronger than ever..but at a more steady pace than when i was younger but still get the job done with no drama....and have the greatest respect for any climbers older than me....i have even heared of one man who was still climbing at 75! Trees have kept me Young.
  4. Excellent choice Ed....They are an Amazing cutting tool...I bought my first Natanoko in 2000 as a silent alternative to an 020 for a job in a noise sensitive area....in the right hands it CAN be quicker than a chainsaw.....FACT.
  5. Nice one Mr Beans...they are indeed.
  6. NATANOKO!.....(Silky...of course) i wouldn,t use a samurai if i was given it for free...
  7. Look forward to the GoPro Vid when you do it...Hopefully i can be in it...ha ha. We have to get a reccy climb in when the Sun finally kicks in. Still smoke free bro?
  8. Just had a year with City Suburban...there is a Bonus scheme. i worked out of the Stockwell yard..it is a busy yard in the morning, and the work involves a lot of very large re pollards all over central london which are all done at a very quick commercial speed (not always a good thing imo) to a very chilled out felling crew which use some very handy unimogs and stump grinding....the best money though is made on the tree planting...they cream in it during the planting season...Very large kiwi,Aussi workforce...they also work out of a Surrey yard and an Enfield yard...BUT if you,re in NW London, Gristwood and Toms would be ideal.
  9. Is this a new branch of Arboriculture..i spotted this Arboridoctor in London the other day....
  10. Yeah, Capel for me was short but sweet...just enough time to catch up with people and be around like minded folk. I see Hamadyad that you are re vamped in a marvelous photo, and using your name which i reckon is a good idea,as i was hoping to bump into you after reading your posts and more recently the you tube snippets you have made are excellent. But all you have is an Avatar and a pseudonym...so anyway Tony, pleased to meet you i,m Paul.
  11. i would love a go in a harvester...nice find.
  12. It is tidy Chris, but the Carpenter,s saw 4th on the left has it,s teethfacing to the right but the others face left. That would drive me CRAZY!

  14. Was examining this Harness at Capel today..Very good back support construction..Firm.
  15. Was good to meet you too Adam...and great throwing by the way! also a couple of pics of a cool horse, that was in a field opposite the Arbtalk area. it was a pleasant day and i left with a handy new rope bag that i haggled for.

  17. 18. B-YEW-TIFUL GRAIN....Swirls and colours... My favourite Tree/Wood. Psycadelic!
