  1. A few weeks time would be perfect so i can get up to speed with you S.J Pro,s!...Disposable BBQ,s and Filming gear...Spiderjackery.."THE MOVIE"
  2. Good luck with that marra!...look forward to the day when you post your first picture and become the proud owner of a mog.
  3. i may do...need to buy the Art Friction saver or Cocoon i reckon so i can move to the next phaze of Spiderjackin...
  4. we should have a Spiderjack day down south so we can compare rope/spider mods etc...a rec climb.
  5. Yes,if the rope is fed straight into the device....
  6. Self tails perfectly, Awsome with a Pantin....runs smoothly through the spiderjack..very light and doesn,t seem to stretch much....Highly visible! just getting used to how thin it is...very round feel to it.
  7. DAMN!..may leave the teapot out altogether next time and concentrate on Lunge length...thanks Felix...
  8. The photos with the light on the subject are superb Martyn...crystal clear action shots!..this is one of my favourites i took.
  9. I just used a S.j for the first time yesterday so i have nothing to compare it to..But i used Yale Blue tongue...when limb walking it is frictionless and flies through the device..a lond ascent with a Pantin is easy and the rope doesn,t feel as if it,s stretching at all..Gripping it is hard but i,ll master it...Descending fast is incredible!....The Ropes visibility is second to none...
  10. Used a Full Stretch teapot lunge in order to assess the top of this tree...
  11. Like a lot of us on here i,ve been climbing trees since i was a nipper...My son was about 8...i have always reckoned that TREE CLIMBING is the worlds oldest profession!! on a documentary last week it said that if a child hasn,t climbed a tree by the time they,re 13 they probably never will...it will be a very sad day indeed when we are told that we are NOT Allowed to climb trees!.....As long as it is at the climbers own risk and safely away from others....tree climbing is a part of who we are...We came down from the trees..we,re just going back up again.....Happy Climbing!
  12. I went to the Park yesterday to try my S.J...picked a tree off the beaten track. I was there for 4 hours and nobody even noticed me...
  13. Forgot i had them on..i don,t climb or cut with gloves, put em on to take the edge of the chill in the air yesterday..S.J feels better with them off because you can use more delicate pressure...fine tuning..the rope is so thin bare hands is easier to grip with
  14. Packed my Climbing kit onto my Bike and went into the woods to Try my Spiderjack for the first time..All my work is done with a prussick ,rope and friction saver...i just need to move into the more Dynamic climbing mechanical aids offer..Throwlined into a branch not to high up installed the friction saver and spent a few hours getting used to this new system, concentrating on Ascent using a Pantin....It is so well engineered.after about 6 foot from the ground the rope slips through the spiderjack and the grab is smooth whenever you stop.i will use a micro pulley on the saver next time and as i progress and i,ll get the ART Ropeguide..But this first time i need to understand how it works, feels and it,s performance.Going up with the Pantin is effortless. From the top i practised smooth descents with some swings and "Touch Downs"...it,s just so cool to be able to do all these things, all with finger and thumb control of the Spiderjack..But where this Device comes into it,s own is when you squeeze the Trigger especially with the thin 11.7 mm Blue tongue i was using...the rope straightens and Gravity takes over...you just....DROP! the rope doesn,t even touch the sides...it,s Fast like free fall...but i soon learned to use the trigger and wooden brake together...Total Control....To recap..it,s like learning another language but definately the way forward...
  15. Cool thread Hama. Nice little video..Clear and informative.
  16. Not tried them but for that bit extra if you havent tried the Airstream put a pair on..proper next generation Arb boot. With spikes on ,good n tight theyr,e a dream.
  17. i can,t believe i,ve just seen that....Twice!
  18. My Airstreams are for Tree work only...If i,m ever dragging brash for a long period of time(no chainsaw work)i got some steel toe capped trainer type boots...perfect for them sunny months..
  19. Honey Brothers....and had enough change for some trainers! Work and Play in one hit.
  20. Recently i have been Upgrading my climbing kit since my Blue Book days..thrown out the Hi flex and Haix and changed to Stretch Air and Airstreams...needed a suitable tree to test my new boots...A nice size oak with a pleasant view including Wembly. In a nutshell, the Airstreams are in a different league! Tree climbing slippers! its like having 4x4 for ya feet and with the memory foam inside they are so comfy.this is the last tree i,m climbing using a prussik,it,s Spiderjack all the way from now on.
  21. Very interesting...now correct me if i,m wrong, but i was told at college that Scotland has only 3% of the Forest that it once had? i could hardly believe it...Very sad.
  22. My mother says i get LOUDER every year and people are forever telling me to stop shouting...i have little or no sensation in my finger tips,i have snapped many keys and a few door handles...
  23. I agree it sounds too much like PMT Tree Surgery...How about "OLYMPIC TREE SERVICES"...Very ON TREND imo.
