  1. If the trees were subject to a TPO then the TO will be dealing with the case and will have agreed species and location with the landowner. Contact the LPA before planting anything.
  2. You should talk to Duncan Slater at Myerscough, he adores them. When people say to me "they're nothing but a weed" I advise them that a weed is an un-wanted plant. I usually want mine. Also, consider this. Imagine what the character of our landscape would look like without them?

Is this on Android? If so, where can I get hold of it? Cheers.
  5. Sorry just done a search and found the answers - thread can be closed
  6. Any TO's on here give an applicant a chance to 'withdraw' a 211 notice if they didn't agree with the works prescribed? I know about the TPO option etc. Just interested as I am aware some LA's do this but I have never come across any reference to this in the blue book.
  7. I had a long conversation over the phone with a chap who was convinced his tree had the disease he had heard about. Then at the end he chirps up "the berries are unaffected though". Goodbye.
  8. I must say Andy that I have noticed a shift in patterns regarding developers bulldozing trees before we get a sniff. Besides, we scour the local plan changes and pick off any susceptible sites that are not already covered. The public are also usually quick if they smell a potential problem with regards tree removal. Also, with regard to DDD, dying has been removed from the exemption of TPO and CAs and I do not see that Ash will be dying particularly quickly from this disease. Although that's an educated guess.
  9. Many thanks both, helpful as ever.
  10. I would like to think that most TO's have a bit more upstairs than to fall for that! I have already had about 6 calls since it has been common knowledge. People seem genuinely concerned though it has to be said. I know what you mean though, the trees not protected, oh look, it's diseased and dangerous. Needs felling.
  11. Ooops these are large pics!!
  12. Struggling with these 2 brackets that are about 8m up a Beech tree. The lower bracket must be about 18 inches wide! Any assistance would be appreciated.
  13. Cedrus libani according to one report that I saw. No details other than that.
  14. The planning application should be online. Give us the number then we can answer the question based on sound information.
  15. Some very nice pics there Dave, nice one.
  16. The native Black Poplar is the subject of a County 'Biodiversity Action Plan' in our area. Link here if anyone is interested. http://www.lancspartners.org/lbap/plans/Black_Poplar.doc The Black Poplar is a much mis-understood story.
  17. Most LA's do not have TPO's on a database. Most house owners know if their trees are subject to a TPO as they will have been served the documents. It's highly unlikely, given the spp and that it's in the rear of the propoerty, that it is not TPO'd but, as when you are checking any tree, ring the LA to find out. Also ask if it is in a CA.
  18. Hmm, how does one put said name on list for the book? Sounds like my kind of read. Top Idea.
  19. I went to this seminar a couple of years ago and it was absolutley brilliant. Historic and Botanic Gardens Bursery Scheme | Veteran Tree Management Ted Green is a fantastic speaker and will have you in stiches one minute and your jaw open the next. If they are doing the rounds again I would be interested.
  20. The Planning permission overides the TPO. Meet with the developer and the TO on site to discuss the issue. At the same time arrange for a a contractor to dig a trial hole to see what you are up against.
  21. Looks like a Betula utilis 'Jacquemontii' that has been strimmed to death. Might also have been planted too deep, but can't be sure. Is it on a park? Blame the Council.
  22. Not noticed any trees flowering again up North but my prize Rose is having another go as is my Berberis. It has been incredible mild over the last few weeks.
  23. Sorry can't help with the ID but, nice photos Nick.
