  1. where are you based? you got your own transport?
  2. depends what head is on it mate. with the saw blade on it will cut 30ft high and with the rotary 36ft high. obviously if you want less clearing up use the saw blade as everything is left in 1 piece where as the big rotary just destroys everything in its path and spreads it everywhere!
  3. Rob, i see the target like the house and green house but if you got that kind of access and that kind of kit on site surely it would of been easier to get a tractor and saw blade to bang down the majority of it and do the tricky bits by hand. Then run round with the loader skoda and trailer and tidy up afterwards.
  4. I'm up for a days shooting mick, count me in.
  5. i helped clear 20 odd hectares of rhody a few years back. we had 2 x 21 ton machines with hawk forks ripping it out roots and all then piling it up, forwarder moving it from the woodland to a clearing where we had an air burner being fed by a 13 ton 360. Main problem we had by doing it this was soil contamination from the roots causing it to burn slowly. we tried mixing in waste construction timber by the artic load per day to speed it up which helped but we certainly werent burning it as quick as we were extracting it. Perhaps getting rid of the brash first then dealing with the roots later would be a quicker way of dealing with it
  6. if its a gun dog call it trigger.
  7. i used to have a hj60 with the 2f chevvy blue flame petrol lump fitted, loads of power, drove that all round australia including a few desert crossings and it never missed a beat. most of the ones that rotted were the ones that had heavy roof racks that clamped to the gutter rails and damaged them causing them to rot up high
  8. we used to have a 70 series tipper with arb winch bar and bigger wheels with a 1000litre bunded tank in the back for taking diesel out to the skidders and like you say reliable as hell and would go most places. Nissan patrol utes were a good tough truck tho cramped in the cab
  9. is that the 79 series mike? i would have one in a shot if i knew i could get the parts for them quickly. i toyed with the idea of bringing my old land cruiser back from australia as they are a beast of a motor
  10. there is a bloke down folkestone way who runs kumho kl71's on a crew cab transit the same as yours mate.
  11. try henwood signs in ashford, they can print on most surfaces at any size. price is competitive too.
  12. its easy, make sure you look around you for people or hazards before tracking around the site and slewing round etc. the examiner will want to see plenty of observation on your part and make sure you re fit the safety pin on the quick hitch when changing buckets. 7 tonner isnt that big and easier to drive than the smaller machines.
  13. i like the old 3185 fastracs, sound good and generally pulled like a train. used to run rings round the 3220 and 3190 the firm used to have. proper hydraulic spool levers instead of the annoying electric switches that pop out of pump all the time. downside to them is that they arent brilliant on hills and you will be constantly grabbing gears when loaded, 65kph ones were bad and the 85kph are no better. if your on narrow twisty roads with plenty of hills you wont be much quicker than a good 50kph tractor due to the width of a fastrac over a normal "big" tractor and having to bury the wing mirrors in the hedge when u meet something.. . . . but if your on nice wide roads then get it brought. dont expect amazing off road performance from them as the 85kph one run smaller wheels than the slower ones but will still pull a few furrows when needed!
  14. they use them round here in kent, every few years it comes past with the chipper in tow!! can give you the number of the firm if needed so you can ask about hire availability
  15. have they got any open days planned for the ashford branch?
  16. i have done it 3 times now and will agree its a bike killer!! i do fancy doing it on a quad tho.........just not one that belongs to me!
  17. busy with both fencing and tree work, just finishing off 1000m of stock fencing this week til i got interrupted by an emergency call out today. yeh i m still on msn a fair bit but somehow managed to wreck the mobile broadband thing last night so might not be on til i sort that out!

  18. yeh not bad mate, busy busy. hows things your end? you still enjoying that new job? its funny it was only the other day i was thinking i hadnt heard from you in ages!!

  19. its not good, we own some ground across the road from him and it hits home when its so local. I think it was last year someone in the village got killed by thieves trying to rob diesel from the tanks in his yard.
  20. i had similar problems with my 528. check the speed sensor on the flywheel or the roller restart buttons on either side of the hopper
