  1. How worn is the sprocket?
  2. i dont think there is an easy option for upgrading the 070/090 filter. Saws that had a cutoff saw counterpart like the 051 and 076 its just a case of putting the high-top filter and cover on. 090 however, you would likely have to fabricate or modify a k&n style filter to fit, and i would be concerned with fitment, and knocking it off/damaging it in use. I reckon a saw that was many folks weapon of choice for oldgrowth redwood felling and processing for the best part of 25yrs, should be able to handle the dust of occassional milling without too much trouble.
  3. It uses large mount husky bar and chain...

    Ms460

The 'C' means it has a cat muffler, meaning it will be down on power and running hot. New standard muffler, retune, sorted. Ms260-660 are the same bar-mount
  5. retired worn/sticky crabs for saws. (although for a while i did use a dog leash for a saw lanyard when i started out) for handsaws any old metal snap/clip i come across in the back of a draw...
  6. i did think of editing what i said about not being a salesman.. in theory i am, but in practice its more under-selling, under-estimating and general charity work. good job i'm not on comission... oh, i suppose i am really:blushing:
  7. Maybe i should have phrased it differently... The client values me keeping an eye on the property and the tree stock (as they are not permanent residents), and appreciate me pointing out any hazards or potential hazards that i come across while keeping the grounds of their 40acre arboretum. I try and offer them balanced advice, with emphasis on retention and conservation. What i say is important to them, because they would likely not have identified or seen the significance of basal decay in a tree, and like to know these things... not pushy, not tapping, not a salesman:001_tongue:
  8. Engelbert Strauss are the best trousers i've tried by far, had them for 6+ months and they are very hard wearing.
  9. The client is by and large, oblivious to the state of their treestock, that is my concern, generally what i say goes. I'm pro retention, but there are dozens of similar size beech on the property, and we do need to clear the way for planting replacements (the tree stock is all fairly mature).... choices choices
  10. so two votes fell (really gents... monolith at the most), one reduce... some more pics, just because
  11. Thank you for the confirmation, management ideas for said tree? fairly low foot/vehicle traffic around the tree, but barn, three phase lines and outbuildings on the opposite side of the tree to the decayed area...
  12. Large Beech next to the driveway of a small estate i look after. Driveway within a couple of feet that has been re-surfaced several times over the lifetime of the tree. Recently noticed a section of decay on the driveway side of the trunk (after a small bit of falling deadwood knocked the necrotic bark off). The decayed area is approx 2' wide and 6' tall, the area above the dead bark and mushy cambium has areas exuding a black/brown substance. So, Armillaria? Crown reduction? Removal? Muchos gracias amigos
  13. combi-spanner... rest screwdriver end into the notch in the clutch assembly, tap socket end with hammer/wedge/bit of wood, unscrew clutch...
  14. if you dont manage to find a supplier i might be able to dig a loop out for you, 3/8th .063
  15. thanks for the reply and pm's people, got a couple of options now, much obliged
  16. clear your pm box mate

  17. what tom is diplomatically saying (echoing the general consensus), is that the tw190 is a bit pat... probably the cheapest chipper of its capacity, but you gets what you pay for, it excells in no particular area. chips wood up to 7 1/2" dia. fin
  18. family friend needs half a dozen or so stumps removed (10"-22" dia, mostly lawson cypress). Denmead, hampshire. post your details, or shoot me a pm cheers
  19. what are you paying per cube?
  20. tis good gear, happy with mine. if it rattles around in a tool box, sometimes the battery comes loose, two screws to get it open and a shim of cardboard to keep it tight and youre back in business
  21. maybe have a look for one in one of your many other posts asking the same question?
  22. your grinder operator wasnt driving an isuzu nkr by any chance was he dave?
  23. a rubbish afterthought. i think theyre made by silky fox (the uk importer) not silky themselves. my choice... fred marvin bull pruner, for all your lopping needs, you'll need new poles tho (i think the stein poles are re-badged marvin poles)
  24. for the last couple of months there has probably been more human rites activists, anarchists and other less than mainstream political types from across europe on site than 'travellers'... for many people it is far more than a planning issue. my younger (angrier and more politically minded) brother travelled from berlin to dale farm last month to show his support. there were alot of people like him there (educated, tight trousers and trendy hair) along with more hardcore anti-establishment types. but more making cups of tea for elderly and infirm settled travellers than chaining themselves to things... its an interesting case, but one that will likely be ended with little drama, and forgotten before long
