  1. Yeah sorry I don't mean anyone in particular. Just a generalisation about forums and the Internet and such. Using usernames, and avatars as such.
  2. Taking the height out of a tree for light purposes is a joke. Either thin, and open pockets of blue sky to produce dappled shade or remove tree and replace with something of correct species for the correct spot.
  3. I wouldn't top leylandii specimen tree. I would however reduce a hedgerow for maintenance purposes because as we all know that closely planted leylandii that are left to grow go very leggy and elongated searching for light and become weaker and more likely to snap big pieces out the top.
  4. Forums were built for debate. People behind computer screens and false names generally say alot more than if they were debating in real life. Simples Is it true that NFU have stopped insuring people who are newly qualified / certificated. If this is true and other insurance companies take a similar stand, this could make a huge difference to Arb in the next few years.

    Aaac. Sole traders?

Just a quicky. Is it possible to become an aaac as a sole trader who has no employees but uses bone-fide subcontractors and is a bona-fide sub contractor themselves?
  7. Haha. I'm speaking with slight jest, but I fully agree with all the principles and it's not just with trees and nature, it's the whole disposable society we live in, no-one seems to care or think. Everything is made to throw away and there is too much waste bwe need to go back to basics and start teaching our children about the natural world we are destroying make them appreciate what we are destroying. Did you notice how masterblaster reacted to the coronet / monolith threads? Hats because he is fortunate to live in a land mass that has masses of forests and wildlife. We don't. We need to start planting new trees and preserving the ones we have. Arb is going ecological, bigtime. I'm on board. How many times do you see a sign written tree wagon and the first thing in the list of services is "tree felling" followed by "dismantling" followed by "stumpgrinding". Somewhere down that list you may see "pruning". This is wrong. First should be "large/veteran tree management" or "tree/plant health care".
  8. I don't care how happy the bank manager Is. They are all oxygen thiefs. I'm going back to bartering and growin my own veg, hunting my own meat and making my own clothes.
  9. Why don't we get stag beetles north of the Watford gap?
  10. I for one have jumped aboard the Hamas train and I'm riding it all the way back to the garden of Eden. How many times have you been doing a small site clearance and sat down for lunch and listened to the birds singing, seen pockets of blue sky through the leaves above your head that seem to jingle in the breeze, and thought to yourself " is there anywhere i would rather be right now". Loads of times? Well pass it on. Go for picnics instead of mcdonalds. Refuse point blank to "top" that 35ft sycamore and call the person a vandal if they get someone else to do it. Re-cycle all your waste, we now only put our green bin out once a fortnight because we sort our "waste". Offer your services to a local primary school to do a talk on trees, science and ecology.
  11. Then again you could say in a sense that I "waxoil a turd"
  12. For the record, I shower once a day to stop bacteria forming. I shave because I don't want to give my kids stubble burn when I kiss them goodnight. I shave my head once every 6 weeks cos it's free and stop my head getting too hot and my hair going in my eyes. I wear clothes to keep my skin protected from harmfull uv rays and nettles and other undesirables and because I don't want to get arrested. Everything I do is for a legitimate maintenance reason, there's is no polishing going on. If anything, I keep a turd in good working order. Lol
  13. Woah woah woah sweet baby Jesus and the orphans. That sounds like fighting talk. Do you know where I live? Did you know that I know Micky "machine gun" Stockbridge? Why don't you go and hammerite the rest of your van? Haha On a fully serious note though. How long do you estimate before rust starts coming through and makin it look shabby again? I.e how often do you need to go to that trouble?my transit needs to look like that.
  14. I reckon the guys got the right idea. how many times have you argued the toss with a customer about what they want and what is best for the tree. Maybe he has thought I will advertise what he vast majority of people see as ok and I will get loadsa work. Probably hasn't posted back as he is too busy in a special swimming pool made out of £2 coins. Supply and demand people. Give the masses what they want.
  15. I don't know what you mean:confused1:
  16. So is the phrase now "you can't polish a turd but you can spray waxoil all over it?
  17. Instead of reply, click go advanced then manage attachments.
  18. Why didn't you get the angle then? Haha
  19. Rupe, why were you sat on someones bonnet taking that picture?
  20. All your trucks make me feel like a right pikey.
  21. Dirty boy
  22. Haha I've been following this thread and I think Jamie has suggested that about 5 times now.
  23. Oh yeah good point. Brilliant.
