  1. My mum had a house in Remuara (sp) for a few years. I'm sure we could see the volcano from there.
  2. scotland has had its own ISA TCC for some time now, is this comp being run as the ISA comp or as an alternative?
  3. Not quite double, but v.nearly! Location, location etc......
  4. Its too tidy to be your house!! Looks liek a bargain at that price, but then it is t'north.
  5. Steve its easy! I'll post you a drill bit if you want!

    was this you

Its a good video though! Were they at work? Don't assume its horseplay on a work site. But if it was and I was the boss, I'd sack myself for hiring muppetts!
  7. Have you seen the similar clip where it catches fire at the top?
  8. If you get to 1mm or closer to the line then that last bit will break off really quickly while in use. Once that happens you know they are no good.
  9. "Country wide farmers" in the gloucestershire area sell the ones that grip at one end for £99.00 I can't find it on their website http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/Home.ice But I saw it in the store the other day. The stihl ones that have a chainsaw holder look crap apart from the fact that you can cut identical lengths to suit your needs.

    Competitons

Each ISA chapter in Europe would have its own schedule, and then ETCC is in Sweden as mentioned above.
  11. I like the line... "stop looking at Ulrikas Knees, she'll think your staring at her tits"
  12. Heres one And the zoom in! I think the far one is quite hot, but the horse appears to have pink ears!
  13. Did you get the chocolate related presents from girls by any chance? I have five sisters and I still have scented candles in the attic from 10 years ago! They ate all the chocolate they gave me though! One year I asked for Halfords vouchers, and they refused to even set foot in Halfords and to this day won't buy me any tools or anything useful. They all have enough kids now for us to agree not to buy each other christmas stuff, its much simpler.
  14. And Mark Lester (oliver) is now my Osteopath......
  15. I was recently asked via e mail to go and "do a tree because it has bees in it" What I was supposed to "do" I don't know. I told them to get pest control or to just leave the bees alone!
  16. 1.5 is perfect really. If your buying by the meter then 3m make two. You only actually need 1.3-1.4m ish but then you still need to buy 3 meters for two lengths. LOng tails on fishermans knots is a good thing. As long as its NOT 1.5 meters after you've tied the fishermans!
  17. Would the bonus of the extra decent wood make it worthwile? Look like 140 quids worth of logs there to me.

    ARBCATS? pics?

I googled "dead cat" to find a funny pic, but soon realised that that really would NOT be funny! I like cats ( a bit) but my dog wouldn't let me own one, so this pic is ideal. I'm sure kitty survived.

    ARBCATS? pics?

can we combine the two threads
  20. That would be the best way. Hourly rate can work, but only really for local jobs. 40 miles is quite a long way to drive back for a bigger saw, rigging gear or something else you need.
  21. I just re read the beginning. So its a housing agency? I work for one of those and no one knows anything about trees, your going to get this a lot. Maybe always take three men and charge for three if they are need or not.
  22. Seriously though you do need someone at the council sending yu the work who actually knows what tree it is! So I don't think its your fault, they either pay your time to look at each job prior to carrying out the work, or they issue better instructions, or they take quotes for every job. By the hour is fine, but you need a site specific risk assessment to work to. If they can't provide the information then you will end up in this situation again and again.
  23. Tell them you need four men, health and safety and all that, then go back with three, charge for four and you've made the money back?
  24. It was quite common to tie one leg of a VT directly to the bridge of a petzl fixey pulley, the other leg being tied to the karabiner between the cheeks of the pulley. Only problem with that was the the petzl pulley didn't have a rated bridge althouth it was plenty strong enough, I think Chris Cowell tested some. So ISC have just brought out a similar pulley and rated the bridge. They suggest tieing a blakes hitch but its for any hitch really. Stopper knot or fishermans will be fine.
