  1. flat out mate, only had time for ten cups of tea and two long dog walks today. Dog walks, is not a euphanism!
  2. JUst messing. Been on computer too long today! Still can't find a skiing deal! Anyway, from what you are saying I'd go for arbormaster with ocean polyester cordage, can't go wrong with that and it will self tail if used with a hitch climber.
  3. Steve that prussik stuff is awsome! Do know when it will be available in UK? My subbie had 1.5m and so I only have one bit!

  4. Why would it have to be 45M ? You cant do much with 45m, get a decent length, 55-60 m at least.
  5. No, I learn good things from him!
  6. My pleasure, always keen to have another look at the helical! Its fun. IN fact I was first shown it by the same Craig as you were! I wonder if he know any other knots yet!
  7. The trip was 30amp! run off a three phase board, all new! It was the motor that was faulty, hence my uncles generous offer!
  8. Yep I guess so. Just wrap it 4-5 times and tie it back on itself with a bowline, drop one wrap to make a cross over, stopper knot in the end and off you go! I used it for a while cos I never really got the hang of tieing a VT! It never seemed right. Helical is easier but you must remember that you are now only tied on with one leg of your friction cord instead of two, which just makes it a bit more scary! BTW it does not come up in any tree climbing books as far as I know! Its really not recomended!
  9. I got "given" a 150L 3hp cosmo compressor. WHen I say given, I mean my uncle said have it for 200 quid or come and do 200 quids worth of work for him. I had it a few weeks then took it back, heap of crap kept blowing the trip, whilst back at his house I did some work and charged him for it! I'm still in need of a compressor, I'm just going to go for a small 50L with the best motor I can afford.
  10. While I was taking pics I knocked up a helical, showing the other way of attaching the pulley. The small micro clip thingy just fits over the rope and sits right up under the hitch.
  11. Or cheaper options using petzl fixe pulley (need bigger krab!) or gold isc pulley and clip off of a horse lead. Notice how far away from the hitch the gold pulley is! Not good.
  12. MOre pics. VT tied with two fishermans (not the same as double fishermans) using a hitchclimber pulley.
  13. With the last one, it IS important to colour co-ordinate or else it wont work!
  14. Missed the pics. I pressed "go advanced" to attach pics and it went ahead and posted my er, post! Here they are.
  15. fishermans, anchor hitch, buntline whatever. I guess fishermans is most common.
  16. Have you seen the french climbing? they have mastered it but it still looks odd!
  17. I guess it was a typo, should have had a comma!! What, a gay cowboy? His fault!!
  18. He said "what" not "what is"
  19. Good work, you even filed both side to be neat and tidy! Cool. Don't use them now anyway, so last century!!
  20. Seriously, be carefull with the helical!! A vt is much more reliable! I have improved the set up since that photo but don't use it now and dont have a photo, basically it is possibly to get the pulley right up under the knot so there is no "sit back" this means you know straight away that you are falling out of the of the tree! The helical is ancient now and there are more technically effective systems available.
  21. Ignore all that, the system would work fine if you using both legs at once!!
