  1. pain is your body telling you something. Pain is your bodies way of telling you that it is already mending!
  2. I'm going through a tough bout of it too. Right elbow, since September. It is easing, and its not the end of climbing etc. Just be careful. Excercise is all good, even if it hurts. Theses straps are really good, they are from proline sports on the web, very fast delivery time. http://www.proline-sports.co.uk/acatalog/Elbow_Tennis_Elbow_Strap.html Also, cold spray stuff is good, ibuprofen will help (don't buy the expensive nurofen its the same stuff) It will get better, but might come back again and again.
  3. Another tip to improve the picture is to paint the rest of the wall matt black, just leaving the white bit that you need to project onto.
  4. I'm pretty sure there is some special paint, but if emulsion works thats fine. I agree about HD for films. Not really worth it. My blu ray player might go on e bay! the discs are expensive and while the technology is impressive it adds nothing to the enjoyability of a good film. My recent recomendations would be Tell no One. (french thriller, subtitles) Death Proof/Planet Terror (for old school B-movie style, definatly no need for HD.)
  5. A safety supplier near me sells Hi-viz yellow kilts! Not sure if chainsaw protection is available yet!
  6. FWIW I am on the LA contractors list and I'm not (and never will be) AA approved, so I'm happy that councils are verifying their own contractors because that benefits me. I just think the term "Illegal" is not quite right. Another LA near me (I'm currently sortign paperwork to join their list) has only just managed to break away from the AA only list, after years of sayign that they wanted to create their own list but have not been able to due to certain departments being too nervous of such a move. Basically they felt that using AA contractors was a way to ensure that all was above board without putting the council at risk of presecution if any accidents occurred. However, due to the poor service that most AA contractors provided they had to do something, but its taken years to happen because the tree officers had to be trained to verify the contractors themselves. Where this training has not yet occurred, possibly due to funding restrictions, some LA's will still be using AA contractors for the time being. Whilst this is may be immoral it cannot be seen as illegal if the infrastructure to verify individual companies is not yet in place.
  7. Yes of course it is, but a 13mm is a bit too far the other way! I'm sure it could be useful, but I still think a 3.5 m length would be better used as a lanyard, and keep rigging gear seperate and made of stuff designed for purpose. A 13mm double braid rope would make a better topping down strop, and if used with an old climbing line it would make a good lighweight set up.
  8. I think I was waiting for it, or an 066
  9. A 19mm rope on a 21mm dead eye sling and a big isc pulley is a topping down strop!
  10. I was being ironic/sarcastic. A 13mm topping down strop is a bit pointless, you might as well do handhelds!
  11. I don't think its illegal ! Some LA's don't have the resources or knowledge to assess tree companies them selves so they choose to use AA AC as the benchmark. It saves then the hassle and if AA AC includes all the things they require then thats good enough. I do think its immoral though. AA AT descriminates against small companies. Some LA try and encourage small companies (in all fields) and if they are useing AA then then are going against their own policies and this should be challenged.
  12. 3.5m is perfect as a lanyard. Or a really big homemade ropeguide for working on a spar? What is a topping down strop?
  13. That on ehe missed must have hurt his toes! Anyway, it weighs nothing that stuff!
  14. Do you mean that the quotes have been "accepted" already? If so then surely its up to you to get in touch with the customer and tell them when you are coming. If they say they would rather wait till after christmas, I would suggest that you offer a work now pay in Jan Feb 2009 scheme, for no additional charge. Definately don't drop the price if its already accepted.
  15. The one good thign about OP is you can go out and buy it! Its CE approved, rated and all that stuff. It works ok, when its settled in.
  16. The eurou TCC was in france in 2006, they had the french championships first and then etcc (on different trees) so we got to watch the french comp. It was good, very different style of climbing.

The trangia will definatly be in the review! I bought min with money from my afterschool job in 1983, its still going strong now, so that puts it way up the list. Problem is the new ones are made with 40% less aluminium! How old is yours? Is it standign up to daily use/abuse. I might need in put for the review!

Will do a review soon, but I already know which cooker I think is the best! THere is one more I want to buy before I do the review.
  19. Ocean polyester is good stuff. I'm sceptical about the eye to eye stuff due to price for straters but also once you got one length you can only adjust by adding wraps/braids. If you buy 1.5m of the stuff you can get the knot you want and then make micro adjustments.

I carry at least one cooker in my car and make fresh tea as required. Seeing as I have a thing about portable cookers, (I own about 7 so far) I am thinking of doing a tea making review, speed/cost etc. watch this space!
  21. Armor prus is the business!! It should be called amor-plus! (love-more)
