  1. For range of fruit and nut trees Deacons (Isle of White I think) are hard to beat good quality but not cheap.
  2. Did you get the job and if so when will you be doing it.I could come and collect with my forwarder as your within my range of being local.
  3. I think the tacho rules would prohibit me using my 7.5t curtainside with tail lift as I operate under the dual purpose vehicle regs.
  4. gensetsteve That looks neat welding What rate do they charge per hour for fab work
  5. Anybody know of a good Agric Engineers who will be able to finish off my MB Trac project. The project was to convert a forward control MB Trac with crab steering and demountable sprayer into a woodland forwarder by retaining the demountable chassis of the sprayer and attaching bolsters. I would then attach a 3 point link from the front of my other MB Trac onto the back of the tractor and then mount my 3 point crane and log trailer on behind. Bit of forestry guarding. Job done Simples. Two years later finally got the tractor back and will probably have to start all over again from scratch.
  6. Was going to use woodchip on our public footpath which runs at the side of our field drain only to be advised I would need to use stone rather than woodchip. Needless to say the footpath is still a muddy track.
  7. Only good if you get paid for doing the job otherwise your out of pocket for the cost of fuel, your time, and wear and tear of your truck.
  8. Used to be loads of them at the old sea plane jetty on the east coast of Lincolnshire. Now all covered in tarmac and imported cars. My father transplanted one to our old house in the centre of East Halton but I dont know whether it is still there.
  9. I use IBC cages which I fill direct with the log processor. For short deliveries I use pallet forks on the rear of my tractor. For multiple drops 6 at a time I use my 7.5 tonne curtainside truck with tail lift and a hand pallet truck. I can still do loose loads as my forklift has a pallet rotator but I try to avoid as I have destroyed a lot of pallets whilst rotating. Even when the customer requests a bulk bag rather than a container I always put a pallet underneath as it is easier to handle.
  10. I would say your very lucky but thinking about it you have been very professional in protecting your assets. Very well done.
  11. Has anybody any experience of using one of these. Does anybody know if there is a UK importer. BodineMfg Land Clearing Machines Equipment Attachments Wood & Stump Splitter
  12. I was thinking more of the fly tipping type tree surgeons we all no dumping a load on a car park then selling to several punters at £40 a time cash then disappearing before the fight starts over the timber.
  13. I use my palax log processor for kindling with standard 6 way head. Not the fastest of machines but quicker than an axe.
  14. Simple really. 20 mtr x 7mtr wide straight sided polytunnel orientated North/South prevailing wind West/East. Both ends with open dutch frame doorways to allow maximum fork lift height. No Doors. Ridge pole 1mtr height difference front to back covered in UV stabilised clear plastic. Floor made of concrete 4mtr x 1mtr tongue & groove bog mats with lifting points arranged down centre of polytunnel which allows 6x 1.2 mtr wide containers to be stacked per mtr in the tunnel allowing 120m3 per tunnel. All IBC's handled by standard free lift fork lift
  15. I tried the softly softly approach to a member on here for 3k of log processing hire back in January. As Steve said he viewed it as a sign of weakness and kept promising payment and finally after a cryptic comment on Arbtalk he confirmed that a cheque was in the post. Obviously a fortnight later and still no cheque we issued a 7 day letter and put debt into hands of Thomas Higgins. Now in court for collection which he has now defended so dont expect to get paid for at least another 6 months. Turns out after speaking to trading standards that I am only one of many creditors chasing him including former climbers and groundies. I understand Steves policy with regards to naming and shaming but really some people do not deserve to be in business.
  16. I often wonder how you determine ownership in such circumstances as it seems an easy opportunity for a scam. No suggestion whatsoever that treedave offer is not genuine and legitimate.
  17. Very slow and keeps getting blocked on woodchip. OK for wood pellets. I have 6 spare if anyone wants to try although I have taken off electric motors for use on my hammer mills.
  18. If you were nearer you could hire my solar kilns for £1 per month per m3 and by Feb it should all be dry just at the time when others have run out. Maybe you could find a local nursery prepared to do a similar deal.
  19. Animal feed wagons make excellent vehicles for collection/delivery of woodchip/wood pellets but like the A C Price blowers need consistent chip G30 spec otherwise like a hoover it can get blocked by bridging. Self loading animal feed wagons are better if the woodchip is of variable sizes
  20. Did you get fixed up if not try unimog on-line shop U1000-U2150L parts accessories linkages Do you have any spare MB Trac tyres. Looking for some new boots but dont need brand new.
  21. Can you actually get away with calling a Hakki Pilke Eagle a log processor. To me it is a sawbench and a screw splitter in one machine. I can understand why you would need two people to get any sort of output but could you really operate both the sawbench and the splitter at the same time safely. For £250 a day plus fuel plus vat you could hire my palax combi with tractor and operator within 30 mile radius of BL7.
  22. Just put in the hands of Thomas Higgins and forget about it. Unrecoverable cost will be £60 but worth every penny as there rotweilers and do everything once you push the button. You are in a very strong position as the last thing a factoring company wants is a CCJ as it is a negative when it comes to banking licensing.
  23. Min license fee of £400 and inspection fee of £1850 seems a total rip off to me. Am I reading the rules right if you have powered operation than exempt from GLA rules.
  24. I have subaru legacy did have two until my daughter turned it 180 degrees went through 8ft high hawthorn hedge down 6ft drop then rolled 2 1/2 times. Thankfully she crawled out the rear side window the only one that broke totally unhurt apart for her pride. Farmer help me roll the car over and I drove it home. I have always been amazed by the strength of the Subaru which I first encountered while working for a gas pipeline construction company as the subaru being lighter was a better off road than the Land Rover Discoveries which the engineers drove.
