  1. I have registered online but still waiting to be vetted
  2. Yet another bit of red tape to fill in.
  3. My MB Trac works my Kesla crane well only thing to be aware of is the super thin oil for the standard Merc hydraulic pump. I had to get the oil formulated by Crown Oil and it is Hydraulic 10 approx £50 for 25 ltrs.
  4. pm sent
  5. Some kind sole put me forward for an advert in the community police speed awareness campaign. He was very pleasant upto the point in time I told him it was against my ethics so would not be dipping my hand in my pocket.
  6. I will put the specs on for you tomorrow. Its a bit dark out tonight.
  7. My 6-300 was going to be on the market later this year (APF time) If I can find a bigger Heizo at a reasonable price then I could put it on the market earlier.
  8. Wish I could. EA are concerned we may contaminate the water by doing that. I can see their point as there is some very large trout in the brook.
  9. Anyone use a punt for transporting timber along a river. Have a job coming up with restricted access but trees either side a river with good forwarder access down stream.
  10. I have a little holder tractor which is quite handy.
  11. As Spandit points out IHT allowable on woodlands but the small print is the exclusion if ancillary to agri land which our FWPS grant scheme is as it was to provide shelter belts. You would therefore think it would be eligible under Agri IHT rules but no HMRC insist the FWPS land has been taken out of agri production which effectively has reduced our IHT relief by 30%. Had we been told the grant would have this devastating effect we would not have bothered.
  12. Definitely looks like tufnol. Was a poor mans substitute for Lignum Vitae when my father used to use it to manufacture ship propeller bearings.
  13. Do take professional advice re tax as HMRC have some very silly rules which can easily catch you out. We have woodland as part of our farm but have been caught out with the woodland grants as the grant planted land is no longer deemed as agricultural land and therefore could have implications on the IHT position on our farmhouse.
  14. Normally not recommended to transfer frog spawn as you could end up spreading the red leg disease. If conditions are right then normally a new pond will have frogs or toads within 2 years.
  15. Definitely need for a new meter. the only wood you will get at 4% is torrefied wood which is equivalent to charcoal.
  16. What would you like to know other than moisture content needs to be below 12% and you will probably need a hammer mill as well. Mine has a built in reducer but it makes it a very sloooow operation so to speed things up I also put in a hammer mill. Would compare the process to bread making. Given the same ingredients the output can be unpredictable and certainly is not press a button and fill a bag in my experience.
  17. One option is to keep the tractor weight down and exploit the dual purpose vehicle rules. The holder municipal tractors look ideal for this purpose with 40k capability.
  18. Heizohack but you will probably need to get screens made for 25 and 35. I think mine are standard screens at 30 and 50.
  19. At the time Esse had a real problem with a well known country magazine really slagging off their at the time new cooking stove which clogged up at the drop of a hat. All down to moisture content not activating the after burner technology.
  20. If you where nearer you could have a wasp nest in our loft which we killed off last year. We retained it as there is an old wives tale that wasps will not build another nest within a certain distance of an existing nest.
  21. Had this conversation with Esse design engineer on our Esse range cooker. We where guinea pigs and told the stove would burn any hardwood or softwood. After 3 months on softwood stove completely coked up with tar and design engineer called in to verify what went wrong. Totally decoked and new test on softwood max 20% MC after 3 months stove stripped no tarring whatsoever only a fine dusting of grey ash. Esse now specify in their handbook logs must be maximum of 20% moisture content.
  22. not progressed past one finger on the right hand yet
  23. Was after a MB Trac with buy it now of 4k. Offered to buy but only on inspection of it up and running. Suddenly advert has been pulled off the bay.
  24. Maybe a bit beyond the 15k price range Holder: Mowing and suction
