  1. That's a beautiful snake. Never heard of one before but very pretty colour. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. we stay with glasses not goggles Matthew. I've had enough seeds, hunks of sawdust etc dug out of my eyes and enough scratches and abrasions and nights feeling like someone has thrown sand in my eyes not to wear them. We use Bolle which do a good anti fog and are a wrap around type of safety glass so they stop most stuff. We still get some stuff flick underneath but it's minimal and definitely better than compared to not wearing anything. I tried a pair of military type tank glasses but they were useless. Safety glasses are now required PPE in most arb companies.
  3. For all those that say their glasses steam up so they don't wear the; fork out for a decent pair of anti fog and look after them. It's all well and good saying they steam up, they get covered in crud etc but you only have two eyes. Ask a blind person what it's like not to be able to see. It's not that difficult to lose an eye doing tree work. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Keep updating us on here Tranquil. I'm keen to see how you go and where you end up. Gotta say I'm a little envious. Good luck to you. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Is he still on here? Haven't seen him post for a while. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. As likeit said; we have a guy at work with stomach cancer. Told it was inoperable but is now in remission. He maintained a positive attitude and refused to let it beat him. I also struggle with the right words but needless to say and put simply; I hope you kick the crap out of it. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Must have thick skin and a tough hide. Great response and I reckon everyone will give you a heap of positive feedback on your next post. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. You can make your own mix up too. Just quarter teaspoon baking soda and same of salt added to boiled water. Cheaper than those packets. Glad it worked for you. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. If you're going to Yosemite give yourself plenty of time or money. If you stay in the park you need plenty for digs. If you stay out for cheaper digs, leave plenty of time to get around the park. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Wolfe there's a bus service runs every hour on the half hour to Marin headlands. Some awesome views of the GG bridge and SF from up there. If you have time, the SF academy of science is also well worth a trip. Someone once told me I'd be bored in SF after a week but I love the place. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. We use Bolle anti fog as these seem to be the longest lasting with the best anti fog coating. A little more expensive than the run of the mill but it just means you take care of them better. If they work well you tend to wear them all the time. Wash them under running water rather than using a cleaning cloth as using the cloth just rubs sawdust etc around the surface of the lens and removes the anti fog coating. Part of the PPE at council and must be worn unless wearing them proves to be a greater risk than not.
  12. If the damage is through negligence on their part I'd suggest they might want to contribute towards the repairs.
  13. Auckland is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live due to the high housing costs and low wages. $30 an hour would be the exception rather than the rule unless, as already stated, you're contracting but then you'll have associated expenses such as ACC etc. $23-25 is deemed a good wage in the smaller centres but starting wage may e less. 14. That's an expensive night out Drew. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Agreed. Main centres that would be reasonable accurate depending on the firm but further out in the sticks you might be looking that as top whack if you're lucky. Unfortunately, in some of the back waters were still seen as glorified lawn mowing contractors. Usual look of surprise followed by "how much?". Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Love San Francisco. Would happily work there myself. I had The offer of a job with Davey Tree but it just proved too much of a risk short term unfortunately. Haven't been to Portland but loved the area around it as we drove from Seattle to SF. Some cracking country around there. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Hilux' hold their price in NZ. The older ones make great bush bashers and hunting vehicles. I was wondering if it was sold with the jandals. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. I don't even know how to use my ipad properly but I spend more time on it than on the old desk top which is sooooooo slow. I don't need it for documents and stuff like that but I do have to go back to the desktop for dealing with my photos in RAW format. Very tempted to get a mac when I'm in the states but it won't be until 2015. Mind you, if you're gonna do something do it right. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. I agree with Steve. I've had a pair a few months now and they seem pretty tough. Nice and comfy like the SiPs and plenty of flex too. Considering getting a second pair. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Gemmells can rebuild the grey part if it isn't completely buggered. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. There's a place that does Meindles. Gemmells. We had three pairs done through Rich at Treetools. Completely rebuilt the sole on a pair that were four years old. We had to send one pair back because the glue didn't take but all in all they did a really good job. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. I like the second shot. I think the fog helps give the photo a different feel. I'm a sucker for cityscape night photos anyway. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Loved Seattle. Awesome place. Heading back 2015 fir a week or so. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  25. I though that was what snorkels were for. Don't LR owners wait for a situation just like that? I know I would. See it here every year up the mountain. People with their pretend 4WD's trying to negotiate the whakapapa road without chains. Rav 4's and the like are the usual casualty but I did see an almost brand new A8 that had done a complete roll on the side of the road one year. The signs on the way up say 4WD or chains and there are people who turn back or fit chains to any vehicle not kitted out to deal with the conditions but some just drive on through. Same with the floods. Crawl through the waiotaka straight floods, panic and then stop right in the middle in 2 foot deep water. Everyone behind comes to a grinding halt mid flood.
