    Enough said? Really? I don't think so. Not after your opening statement. Somebody else might think it is just the job for what they need. There's a huge difference between personal opion and something being completely useless for the job it is designed for. If IT is the latter then you should have recourse for a refund.

    Use them all the time on the ground but not one handed. Sometimes, if I know it's only a small job then I'll take a couple of 200's and nothing else. I can trim or knock over small trees and de limb on the floor. I've seen plenty of people using them one handed on the floor andd I knew a fella who tried to use one in each hand. My looks aren't great, especially as I age so I'm not keen on making them any worse with a kickback injury just because I was too lazy to use both hands. I don't believe there's any rules or regs in NZ about using them on the floor although there was some discussion about it a few years ago.

    Line clearance in Oz was the same, everything was spiked on the orders of the power company. Up, chop the top off wherever (no growth points) and down. The trees had been done time after time after time and the trunks were just a mass of spike marks most of which seemed to have healed pretty well. Not sure what was worse for the tree, the topping or the spiking but neither prevented them growing rapidly year in year out. They were called Moffet Gums after the guy that supervised us.

    I have a pair of the sips too Drew. Currently they have a big hole in the thigh where a hot chainsaw exhaust melted through them. Now whenever I am cutting up big stuff the hole fills up with sawdust and then mysteriously waits until I walk through the door at home before dumping the entire contents throughout the house. Hoping to shell out on a pair of stretch airs soon. How do you climb in shorts and chaps Drew? It'd drive me up the wall having chaps flapping about all over the place. Glad to say that Autumn is finally kicking in here so cooling off nicely now.

    The opportunity has presented itself for someone who has more experience to come in and have a look at it. Leave it for someone who knows how to deal with hung up trees etc rather than trying to learn how to do it from here if your expertise aren't too crash hot. Better you don't kill yourself eh.

    Dog theory I would presume. Oh, and I would also presume it has something to do with the nutcase cameraman Geoff Mackley (cool job) who maybe doesn't have the where with all ropes wise that Drew has. Or am I barking completely up the wrong tree?

    Tree Weta I believe but only a young one. I've been trying to get a picture of a biggy for a while but I usually find them when I'm chogging down a tree and without my camera. The bigger ones are about the length of your hand and can give quite a nasty nip. I believe one species is the world's heaviest insect but I may be incorrect on that.

    You trying to say us Poms all like the cold? Meh, OK you're probably right. Keeps those bleedin crickets quiet at least. Shouldn't mind a cushy council job down there I reckon, I'd spend most of the time with the camera out. Bet you're glad you didn't go back to the UK now eh adam?

    Reckon it would be a cool place for a long holiday but not sure about working there. Same reason; transient usually means the place has an odd feeling except for peak holiday periods when it's bustling. Mind you; the less people the better for me. Hoping for a trip down to Nelson at xmas so might see if I can take a few days out for a visit.

    I thought queenstown was just Auckland in the South? Some cracking pics there Drew, especially that one from up the mountains. Always thought it was probably the most picturesque cricket ground down there. Must get my backside down for a look see one of these days.

    Found this little fella settling down to over winter in a crotch. Not the best photos due to standing in a howling gale blowing of the mountain and being unable to hold the camera still.

    I'd like to second an earlier opinion. Thanks for the time served guys and for putting your necks on the chopping block so that I (and many others) get to lead a normal life. Not enough credit goes out to you.

    Had a few of those here in NZ except the accents were American and they were trying to get you to pay to remove the virus via credit card. Several got quite aggressive when challenged and then slammed the phone down but they did manage to get some people hook line and sinker.

    They call it the retirement city, very laid back and chilled out. There's some excellent museums and Glenelg is choice. There's also Kangaroo Island and I think you can go out shark diving from Adelaide too. I'm sure you'll have a cracking time out there.

    Yup. Thought the rain was gonna keep up all day so figured I'd get a couple of hours in until I was soaked but mother nature brought the sun out in the arvo and I had my go go gadget chainsaw arms on so it was all good
