  1. Yeesh, I wouldn't even know where to start.
  2. Cheers for the link Sean. Some good photos on there so will be of some help. Might see if I can talk the boss into buying the book.
  3. Never the most flattering of attire
  4. Related to the same family I believe but known as Weta. These two are tree Wetas, the first few photos are of the male with the larger jaws. Believe me they can give a fairly hefty nip hence the fact I was keen to not let it wander too far up my arm. The female has smaller jaws and a large ovipositer. As long as you don't annoy them they are usually pretty easy to handle though the spines on the back legs are pretty sharp when they dig in. Unfortunately they are easy prey for mice etc (introduced species) so it's nice to see them in amongst the cracks and crevices.
  5. What? Did I read that right? Is Hama stumped I'll try and get some photos for you tomorrow but it'll probably end up being one of the common NZ fungi.
  6. Apologies but I'm completely ignorant to all things shroomy so if one of your royal funginesses could ID this for me please? I thought it was honey fungus but really have no idea. It was on the base of a Kowhai.
  7. Took down an Oak today that had split down the middle. Found these fellas snuggled up ready for winter. The pictures aren't the best as the first one was intent on getting a hold of me with those jaws while I had the camera in the other hand. The second one (which I think is the female) wouldn't sit still and shut up (which is why I think it was a she) so had to take a quick snap shot. They were both put in the crevice of another tree after blowing their opportunity for fame and fortune.
  8. Too many lawns?
  9. Sod's law and all that; just as I take a full time job with the local council the phone starts ringing off the hook. Had one mate wanted me for two months solid as he had $300K to spend by the end of June and needed men quick.
  10. Which Tarzan? Johnny Weismuller or the cartoon version. How about the great egg and spoon race, It's a knockout and Why don't you. And for those who were old enough, Sally James on Tiswas?
  11. Choice thread, excellent photos.
  12. As above really. Check that the teeth are sharp and even. Make sure the bar isn't actually warped and that it is dressed properly. Then watch the operator to see how much force they use when cutting or boring. Ideally the saw should be doing all the work but with an 088 or something with a bigger bar the operator might have trouble holding it level and then having to use some force to try and compensate when the cut is off kilter.
  13. And if we're doing the ancient photo thing I looked like this taken with my sister.
  14. Grange Hill (the orginal version) Tucker Jenkins, Gripper Stebson, Roland followed by Tucker's luck on BBC2. Yeesh, that was a long long long time ago.
  15. I'm actually surprised he's allowed to use that kind of language on something like fleabay. I know on the kiwi version (trademe) you'd get booted off as a trader pretty quick sharpish as far as I'm aware if you started mouthing off like that. Surely this a place to keep somewhat of a civil tongue in your head?
  16. Nice to see in this day and age somebody accepting that they made a bit of a booboo and getting it sorted. Too many outfits these days are quite happy to shift the blame wherever and whenever they can. Nice one for owning up guys
  17. Nice to hear there's a happy outcome.
  18. Now that's a choice photo.
  19. If mythbusters say it's busted IT'S BUSTED!!!!
  20. Bit late in the year for these fellas but nice to see them kicking around all the same. We sometimes get them in the house so they are released on the Lemon tree to go catch some nasties.
  21. Ha! Look at all the AT addicts coming out of the woodwork cos they didn't get their daily fix (me included)
  22. Meanwhile just suck it up and pay the price. We're quite happy to pay for bottled tap water and frivelous stuff we don't really need but gripe and moan about petrol and deisel prices. If we want it we'll pay for it regardless of the price. For the self employed there's the possibilty of passing on the cost to the customer. Everything else is going up in price (checked out your food bill recently) but fuel is an easy target. If anyone is to have the finger pointed at them it should be successive governments who insist on taxing the daylights out of us cos we're easy targets. I've said it before and I'll say it again; I drive a V8 that sucks the juice and I don't give a monkeys. I don't go out much, don't drink much and gave up the smokes and drugs sometime ago so rumbling around in my grunter is now my drug of choice regardless of the $130 it costs me to fill up only to get me round the block a couple of times.
  23. Yup! Definately need that one translating
  24. Me too. Got a nice Gum tree crying out for a closer look at those spikes.......................................................Joking guys. Harness looks nice though and I'd be keen to give it a blast.
  25. So I can laugh heartily without offending you now then?
