And while we are talking about not being able to afford another miltary operation; what about the billions poured into overseas aid? India for goodness sake gets aid money. Can someone explain that to me?

    Two? Afghanistan and ?

    Uh-oh

Dumb, just plain dumb. How many things could have gone wrong in that scenario? The head breaking out? The tree twisting on the way down? The guys didn't even have a helmet on. Sometimes you have to wonder about Darwins theory when you see this.
  4. Do you really need one? We have one but only use it in the summer as it's cheaper than using heaps of hot water to wash up. With a wet back hot water is free in winter so it's all done by hand. If you have to get one don't get the drawer system; they are pants.
  5. Bout time you had a book init so we can all learn a thing or two.

I don't so much have an issue with going into these countries as a peace keeping force but what gets my goat is the fact that we only worry about the oil producing countries. We don't worry about China, which has an appalling human rights record, nor various other middle eastern countries. Neither is the UK willing to sort out its own home grown problems before trying to sort out everybody elses. And will the allies get any thanks for this? Course they won't. It'll be just another case of interfering busybodies unfortunately.
  7. Smashed him! Sometimes it happens. Good on the big fella for giving some back.
  8. Do a quick search lionpea. There was a whole thread on it not so long ago with heaps of good advice about immigration, equipment etc. Failing that send me a PM and I'll give you the details you need.
  9. by the time I got to it the video had been removed. Would someone like to enlighten me please?
  10. These are brilliant, especially the Yeo Valley. Keep em coming.
  11. Yeesh! I was just trying to say that if you clean the gear once in a while it is EASIER to see a crack or weakening of the metal when it begins not after it's sat there rusting for a while. Surely better spotted early before it becomes a major? A similar failure like this could happen to any wheeled vehicle. Would you be happy if it failed on the motorway and wiped out the wife's car just because someone didn't bother checking it properly? As for MOT's on trailers; all road vehicles here have to have a warrent of fitness before they are allowed on the road. That inlcudes trailers of any type. Not such a stupid idea when you see some of the home built efforts on people's lawns.
  12. Never rely on a company to get back to you, especially if it's overseas. If you want the job or the move that bad keep chasing them. If they realise you want the position that bad they're more likely to give you the job.
  13. Sweet news.
  14. He was lucky it wasn't pre burnt for him as well.
  15. You still going back to the UK bro? Not interested in looking for work somewhere else about the country?
  16. Thought that first one was going to be another P take out of us on this side of the world but it ended up being a primo ad. Might have to stick that one on my Facebook page.
  17. I dread to think how much stress you guys are putting on the motors towing all this weight. I blew the gearbox and head on Toyota surf after towing a 12" bandit. No idea what the bandit weighed but I spent most of the trip with a nice view of the sky Boss wasn't happy but it was the bosses idea so he couldn't really complain.
  18. Local farmer up in the bucket of his tractor clearing Poplars that were burning in the 11 KV conductors despite being told the day before we would do it for free. Dumb, plain dumb.
  19. The wife and child are no excuse not to go unless the wife isn't keen. The education system in some countries is way better than that in the UK and employment opportunities are also better. Tie that in with lifestyle etc and working around the world has a lot to offer. Not to belittle what the UK offers but I would hate to be sat there in my 80's wishing that I had done the big OE when I had the chance. I hear from a lot of people who have never moved out of their home town and regret not taking the opportunity to see the world when they had the chance.
  20. Found the same thing myself. Rock solid when I first got them and could hardly drive as I couldn't feel the clutch or throttle. Once I broke them in they were excellent and mega comfy. I still use em (three years later) for big take downs etc. I also got a pair of Airstreams which are even more comfy and get used for finer work as I have a better feel of where I am and how much grip I have when branch walking. They are also less likely to get jammed in tight crotches. The Klimbas are excellent if you are going to spend all day on spikes. Personally I like the clog feel as a lot of my stuff is removals so I like not having the arches of my feet remodelled by wearing a pair of spikes all day.
  21. Plenty out this way in the old growth forests. I'll try and get some pictures once my camera dries out or I can steal the wife's.
  22. Not so worried about the carrying thing. I already have a little basic samsung point and squirt which I use for photos for reports and small stuff but I really want to start getting some nice photos. Not just of trees but landscape stuff etc. There's so much beauty around here and a crap camera really doesn't do it justice. I love having art and photos on the walls rather than the minimalist look so I'm hoping I can get a few decent ones I can frame. I've suddenly started to realise I've got naff all photographinc record of my family, travels etc and if I don't pull finger stuff will slip by without me capturing it. I just don't want to do it half cocked that's all.
  23. Oh great! You wait until Autumn to post this thread. Just cos I'm upside down no need to rub it in.
  24. C'mon guys, cleaning the machine should be part of the maintenance. How many check towballs, hitches etc? You can't check for fractures in the hitch if the whole thing is covered in grime. I don't mean break out the wax and t-cut but you can't do a proper inspection of the gubbins if it's covered in crap, regardless of if it's just road spray or absolutely caked in mud. If your ropes are covered in crap you'd give em a bit of a clean before checking them for wear and tear wouldn't you? I'm not having a crack here and at the very least it shows that some should look a little more closely at their gear before presuming all is OK but a quick blast with some degreaser and a hose wouldn't go amiss.
  25. 11KV next to a busy motorway in thick wet fog. Nice.
