  1. The tractor i run is big , i use a lot of fuel getting there it is 40k but i struggle to keep that speed dodging motorists pot holes children etc Was thinking that i could run half throttle and still do 40-50 k and run over the pot holes and motorist
  2. I do like the fendts most of the ones i have seen have high hours I am looking for a light weight , 220 +hp , suspension , and 50k speed to run a heizohack A lot of the estates i go to have small yards access is really bad even for the tractor i have Any suggestions ?
  3. 85k fastrac on ebay 50 miles an hour in a tractor !!! Have been looking at 3220 fastracs , has anybody had any experience of them?
  4. Just taken the vat route myself , go vat regersted on nov 1 , dont get any back vat untill end of first quater 90% of my part time business is log sales , gettin the wife to do all the paperwork

  6. My pickup is very similar , i have put a single release pin at the bottom so you dont have to get out of the pickup to tip Sounds very lazy , but very handy for tipping in narrow garages or alleys , and if its raining dont want to get wet do we .

  9. I have a problem with my logs at the moment Worm holes in the ash only , thousands of little holes , customers think they are woodworm and look very bad I clear all my stock every year and still they come back , anyone have the same problem ?

You really need to run at 750 - 800 revs as Alex suggests If you have a smaller powered tractor you will need to run 540 pto but your tractor must be running nearly flat out Using 1000 pto you are almost halving you power output It all depends on what output you are looking for , ie arb waste where you dont need a lot of output per hour , or biomass where you need max out put using large timber I use 220 hp 1000 pto at 2100 revs 800 revs on chipper At this rate the stress relief normaly cuts in once on a 3m length of drysoftwood @ 14-15" dia
  11. Make sure you have power to control box , watch what happens on the digital readout . Check in the fuse box for loose wires the vibration has broken a few wires on mine , wiggle each wire . Double check the fuse for corrosion , the manual isnt that good
  12. Just weighed my load yesterday , just over a tonne , felled last week , all less than 12"" , 3 cube in the pick up every 40 minutes on a palax

  15. I have the saw blade model , it works very well wouldnt have any other make at the moment , value for money per output
  16. Anybody got any info about using red in a tractor to chip for biomass on another estate . I travel to chip other estates timber that i have not felled Also how about traveling on the roads to convert timber into logs for other people , or is it the same as everything else , a very grey area

  20. I have been doing it for years as well , try putting the smaller bits into a plastic bag , it saves a lot of time and mess in the house chuck the hole bag on
  21. 100% grant ? are you sure ? You see my business is part time so i have real problems raising the money for a bigger chipper , and yes i already have a loan The grants are great for people who already have the funds I have to find £30,000 or more first then wait for the grant money and try and sell a secondhand chipper which could take a while Having to wait possibly 7 months is a long time to wait
  22. Just been on the forestry comission website and found a picture of my tractor and chipper
  23. Powered by a mf 8160 200 at the pto but can go to around 250 if i need to or a new tractor if i need more It has a botex on the rear which i might transfere on to new chipper , or possibly get a 2.5 tonne mini digger to feed it I will go for a new hm 8-400
