  1. what sort of price should i be looking at to rent another couple of sheds They are both 25m x10m 6m to the eves , no electric or water both have sliding doors with block sides and concrete floors They are only a year old , up to rent due to change in farm policy , both on my door step any ideas ?
  2. Yes i read that , i have been in touch with wilsons £17 grand start price
  3. Yes a valmet would be easiest but they just seem to be so expensive and hard to find with good power and mod cons like 50k and suspension It would only be used for biomass not in the woods and a bit of firewooding
  4. Does anyone have or know somebody who has put a roof mount on any other tractor than a valmet/valtra or a county that works well
  5. No all crap thinings biggest about 10" 4ft long so they can lift , some of the timber was down to 2" but was asked to mix in the bags A lot of time was wasted setting the bags up under the conveyor , so i have made some tressels and a shoot to drop into the bag , should speed it up a bit
  6. Yes they own the timber , the gardener / woodsman cut the timber so i would guess it took a couple of days to cut , and it will take them a full day at least to transport it to the yard then delivery costs it all adds up to less profit margins then the price of the bags It is there first attempt at logs and are going straight in at the deep end by going HETAS so not sure how it will go for them Yes i run a part time firewood yard doing around 1000 cube a year so it is just another income really
  7. Sounds about right , but not that simple in this case The timber is miles from anywhere ,so no wagon access , it has been moved once already from a bad site , then they have to move from site as it is a public right of way i think they have already lost some If it had been in a yard somewhere there would have been a lot more profit as up here we are on £70 a cube
  8. Hey Simon if you want to call in and give a hand you are most welcome I bet it is a long time since you split any logs Tell you what i will give you £5 to fill a bag and i will watch to see how it is done 20yrs dosent seem that long
  9. john they are full cubes , the lads on the estate are passing the timber to me i have been using a palax for the last 20 yrs or so , so really it is just a breeze in the park
  10. It is my machine and tractor the estate supplies two men to feed and change bags and an extra £80 for the day if i put extra splitter on the front for them to use will i cut at the back
  11. A palax combi doing 4-5 bags per hour on small stuff , so when i get into the good going i should manage 5-6 cube per hour Just wondering if this was a good price as i have around 300 tonnes to do for him
  12. Is there a rate for splitting a cubic bag of logs The guy i have just started splitting logs for thinks it would be a good idea to charge per bag i was thinking of £10 per bag what do you think?
  13. John does yours have the restart button ? Do you run yours on an mb trac i seem to recall , what horse power is that pushing out ?
  14. got it sorted this morning , thanks for all the help
  15. The restart button has packed in on the heizohack , i dont hand feed anymore so dont need it has anyone taken one out of the circuit , it has a couple of diode thingys in it Alex is a very busy man and i need it first thing in the morning
  16. My first one was an old hacksaw machine it worked well I put a faster motor in with a wedge welded on , not a lot of health and safety though and very noisy
  17. Is that for biomass ? Try Geoff at Raby estate
  18. Seems the engines have more power than the rest of the tractor can cope with Or just someone with a bad friday afternoon tractor
  19. Just been trawling the farm forum , it seems that the high power valtras seem to be getting a bad rep at the moment Bad brakes and pto packs Anyone heard anything ?
  20. Just been looking at tractors this morning A new t171 or a second hand t191 similar in price and power output both hitech models , to run a heizohack chipper Does anybody have any good or bad experiences of them
  21. Yes you should have said before the weekend could of given you them at languards
  22. They are a bit expensive to buy , never thought about making one:biggrin:
  23. Just wondering if these cone splitters are any good on a 3 tonne mini digger I use a posch 28 tonne horizontal at the moment I do like the idea of being able to split long lengths , does anyone have any good or bad experience of them ?
  24. I have a dexta that i used liquid metal on , filled a half inch frost hole in then stuck a patch of sheet over it That was 6 years ago it works hard splitting around 600 tonnes of logs a year without a problem
