  1. There are several grant systems all seem to be 40% and all full of paperwor Alex is the man I want to get the power / output right and fuel consumption any ideas?
  2. Yes hand feed sometimes , i hire the local estate a big log splitter they reduce a lot of big waste timber down I have seen the top ram Alex does but i like the bottom infeed roller better one that can slide in and out so it would still be legalto handfeed and would help with crane feeding
  3. I have had it for about 4 years I am getting too old to hand feed and the 5-400 isnt the best for crane feeding I have been looking at the 8-400 which is a lot easier to crane feed and a 40% grant also helps
  4. I am looking at replacing my hm 5-400 heizohack with a bigger pto chipper . It is used only for biomass chipping , i run a 200 hp tractor Has anybody any experience of heizohack - jenz - or mus-max It is a big comitment and i want to get the right one , i have had no problems with the heizohack
  5. I thought it was just me that was quite on the log job I am about 150 loads down on this time last year , the weather dosent help There are now 7 log adverts in the local rag most of them undercutting everybody . One guy convinced an old dear that pine was in fact a hardwood [ something i didnt know ! ] Nice to be steady away rather than flat out , miss the money though
  6. The problem is its a rented building no chance of mains 3 phase it will have to be a generator
  7. The building i split in is very narrow and difficult to get tractor and palax in , and i want to get a log deck in ( sick of lifting timber) Plus i get a lot of fumes at the moment It has no elecric so i need a gene ,so thought about a bigger generater to run possibly 2 or 3 machines instead of 2 or 3 tractors It maybe cheaper on fuel i need to get the correct power generater to mach output has anybody gone down this route?
  8. Does anyone use an electric firewood processor? Say a palax or dalen in paticular Wondered what they were like compared to a pto version Both manufactures tell me they have the same or similar output
  9. Has anybody used one of these reversing cameras Thinking of putting one on the pick up to help out in tight spots delivering logs
  10. Thieves broke into a newly renovated house last week , they left everything but took 2 brand new log burning stoves . Times must be hard
  11. I run a hm 5 400 which is 16" x16" on a 3 point linkage . The biggest is the hm 8 400 which has an opening of 16" in height x 27" wide The 5 400 is capable of upto 50 t a day , and the 8 400 upto 100 If you want more info pm me . I am around 50 miles from you
  12. I have been looking at getting a 2.5 t 360 to feed the chipper and splitter . Has anyone had any experiences of these ? or what sort of weight they will lift?
  13. I ran a farmi for biomass on a 150 horse case at 540 pto .It wasnt enough power to keep a constant chip size when putting big timber through . It saps the power with all the breakers in , fine for arb work though. Hope this helps. I moved on to a heizohack a lot better for biomass
  14. Try a look at a heizohack , to hire out for biomass I dont think it is as quick as a cone head , but you do need a tractor
  15. Hey Chris what was the ignite course like ,worth going on or not?
  16. Did a job in a church yard 2 ash and 3 chestnut Sat havin dinner and this guy in a fiesta with a trailer stopped next to us and started loading his trailer , not a word to us . 17. Has anyone had anything to do with the vigas range of stoves They come on and of the same as oil , you can get them to run 20 or so rads and all the hot water
  18. We live on one of the routes to the fair The local villages have had riots , beatings , i have heard of some people too afraid to come out at night and of course the thefts that seem to happen when the travellers go past
  19. Hey Dave the dog You cant go in january i have loads of work for you and can i have all your log orders , and your chipper?
  20. Have had my palax for about 7 years now Besides the usual maintainance i have had new bearings in at a cost of about £30 and replacement belts. There seems to be less maintainance on a tct blade machine , i still use the original 2 blades , there is no down time for sharpening
  21. Just got my blades back today £17.50 to grind 5 blades I tend to angle grind about 3-4 times then send them away
  22. yes i would like to know price to ?
  23. Chainsaws produce a lot more sawdust . More sharpening. Slower ??? Difficult on bent timber. I run a palax , i have 2 blades , and would only expect to sharpen them twice in a good year [no nails] sharpen costs about £25 total £100 each tip costs about £1.50 expect about 10 of these I know of 3 people woh have come back to tct blades from chainsaws
  24. I use posch horizontal 30 tonne splitter from jas wilsons It has only been stuck twice , and i put some big bits through . It will take 4 foot long and about 5foot diameter , then through an old palax processer I would keep away from a chain processers
