  1. What puzzles me a little about this whole thred having scand over it all again is that many people who have contributed care about doing a good job, presenting a professional image and trying to educate the public and in doing so get arb the recognition as a skilled profession that it deserves and in doing that hopefully get the public more willing to pay what we would realy like them to. But and it's a big but when someone is doing the opposite and presenting out industry badly for whatever reason it's the old ' not my problem ' attitude that comes out which is a real shame. Just my opinion so let the abuse begin.
  2. Found out how, cost a fortune to set up this rig!
  3. That's just strange being able to twist round and look behind you view point. Didnt get it at 1st but interesting the 2nd time. Wounder how it works.
  4. Bet he's in hid box feeling very sorry for himself now, poor wee pup.
  5. ^^👍👍^^ Makes you wonder why we bother with applications when they won't follow up this sort of work when no application was placed, why wait just crack on and do it.
  6. Am I allowed to post a picture of a reduction with spikes I spotted when out pricing some council work yesterday? No name or shame just picture of tree in con are.
  7. How many hrs you clocked up on that chipper now?
  8. That's ridiculous, hope he gets to keep it like it is.
  9. Wouldn't be without mine! We were shifting pine brash out of a garden today and each trip with the trolley was about 8 trips by hand worth. Timber we had 3 bits on which were 2 man lifts to load and unload but saved a lot of cutting up. On the rite job with the rite attitude it's a real winner and time/effort saver even if it's just carrying all the rigging gear onto site. Not sure about the bag as use a 4ft x 4ft bit of stock board shoved into the pins to pile rakings or ringed up timber into as it's almost indestructible. Get it you won't regret it!
  10. Chin up old boy could have been a lot worse, could have been jaffa cakes, they realy do burn well! Hopefully your kids be ok in morning and you can crack on and have a good productive day tomorrow.
  11. Just ordered a set today 170+vat + 11postage
  12. The leg definitely makes a difference from the 1 I've used which didn't have 1 to help over stumps and pulling stuff about, realy tidy job you leave 👍top job.
  13. Going to steal that 1 rich, like it👍
  14. That groundy is a fair unit, human forwarder I'd say! Love working on cedres, so nice to cut.
  15. Something we could be interested in especially if we could also get the 2.5 ton digger to site with it then load up and come back.
  16. To Dalton trees, very connected overlapping root plates in this location and quite a few older stumps which would have given an entry point between 5 and 10years ago, also when the houses were built 25 years ago the lower edge of the root zone will have been dug away which is when the trees were all tpo'd not conservation area. The ground has been heavily waterlogged each winter for some time now and gets a lot of runoff from the road above so probably getting a reasonable amount of salt added into the mix. Cheers Paul I'll have a good look at the fc stuff again later. Look like it could be a bore test on the nearest largest tree to see what it looks like.
  17. My artistic flare unfortunately won't stretch to drawing, sorry 😉
  18. That's not true the tanks swing open and you'd be able to do the belts in about an hour nd half but in 400hrs ish never needed to change them. Blades are realy easy taking about 20min and are incredibly cheep. Now run a st8 which so far in 140hrs is fantastic.
  19. If your mostly domestic I'd go quadchip, had 1 for 3years and a fantastic machine, only got rid as needed a bigger machine for comersial and we sell chip and have bigger vehicles to cope, the turntable was a really big asset and I do miss having 1 now. Ideal world the bandit would be my choice as heavy duty with long life and excellent resale value should you want to change. As for tracked if you only occasionally need it hire 1 when you do to save a heap of unnecessary maintenance and weight to tow around when you don't need it. Why not a forst st8 of jensen 540 both hard hitting machines.
  20. Better of with something like this if it's brambles and not too heavy thick stuff especially in-between remaining trees as it's so much more manoeuvrable and lower ground pressure for less compaction or rutting.
  21. Gave mine a good trim on Friday, down from about a 6 to a 3 nd my old clippers didn't realy appreciate it, could have done with one of these.
  22. As said the guy's in greenmech,s service dep are top notch and will happily help over the phone while you do the reset, worth making a note of the sequence in your op manual incase you want to fine tune or reset again in the future. Could be simply the reves are dropping a bit low and then kicking in again a little too soon, it won't take a lot to make a big difference. Keep us posted how you get on.
  23. Couldn't see any fruiting bodies but if it's the suggested fugi it's apparently biannual so could be a dormant year?
  24. Think your correct Spruce pirate. Just looked up the fc research papers on it and it's definitely going to affect the remaining trees either now or in the future by the sounds of it. Problem with sounding the tree is it won't always cause a hollow as the cellulose is digested but leave a soft spongy centre so without going to expense of ultrasound a core sample would determine the extent particularly on the heavily side weighted trees towards the house.
