  1. Picked up a good load of pine of a development site after a contractor had cleared all the trees but left what looked like everything they didn't want and the site forman just needed it gone, I did take two off this load before heading slowly off down the road straight to the sawmill to sell it on 😉 then a load of smaller crap I'll chip for biomass. 2. Way to steep with large rocks and gully to work round and several near vertical 2m step offs in places, tryed crampons but caused more of a trip hazard than it solved. Think this would have stood a better chance! Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Yeh all radioed up so man on rope could easily talk to controller at top and ambassador at bottom and generally take the piss every time someone fell over, made the whole thing more enjoyable 👍 Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. Behaves the same in wet, dry, hot, cold conditions, best climbing device for ddrt in my opinion and I'm on my 4th, 2 cracked and got replaced and wore 3rd out so got another. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Never had that 'yet' but had some ask for a discount for letting me take the timber away as I'm loading the forwarder at the end of the day of taking down the tree, just unloaded it back onto the drive and said fine keep it. Amazing how quickly it's a ow OK you can have it. Hope that made sense as a few medicinal beers in tonight. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Not the best ever but mustn't grumble as still worth having, the running costs of the job weren't high and should get a lot of work from the client off the back of it as we are the 1st contractor to satisfactory complete the job in nearly 6 years. To tell you the truth we quite enjoyed it as a change and challenging job even if we are all a little sore tonight looking back at the site from the opposite hillside looks good. Going to go back in the spring and treat all the sycamore and elder regen as it starts to leaf up then hopefully it'll only need doing every 2 years after that. 7. 3 days of epic strimming and vegetation hight adjustment. Made an interesting chance but my knees are paying the price tonight. I Wrecked 1 mulching blade and Ben drew the short straw and found the obligatory wasp nest, not easy to run away when your tethered and up to your waist in brambles and balsam. 8. Pm busy daddy on here. Not far off scotch corner as might be able to fit you around other customers in area. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. Don't put to much in at once and only what's supposed to go in??? Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. So have I but they ain't a tree so don't matter ;-) Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. Same, done these monster hedges and a few more like them with a single sided sthil with a catcher plate for 3 years now and still cuts as good now as day out the box Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Had a customer we dripped timber lengths of off too tell me for every ton of logs he cut himself he manually handled 7ton before it was giving off heat in the stove, he now gest split logs off us. Like you say presentation of timber before it comes back to yard is a big help like cutting out forks, ringing to correct size or into bits that will neatly cut into 2-3 even bits, if your using a big billet splitter try and cut bits on site that will fit exactly into it when you get back to maximise each ram stroke. I quite like the idea of the billet system where they dry in a big stack then get cross cut directly into the delivery vehicle. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Nicely done, some money's work of gear on that site! Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. Now that's 1 bonny lass!! Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. What hp are you running on that bob as when I've mulched in the past I've always found however much you've got you could do with more! Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. These two keep coming up in my music choice these days. Let's eat grandma Public service broadcasting Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. They do look nice boots bud, at the moment I'm sticking with my altberg boots that are made in Richmond to military specifications, light comfortable and high to hold my dodgy ankle together but those look like they would be high enough to do the same unlike most ankle hight walking boots these days. 18. Cheers richy Good point about it fitting on with other gear as I reckon it will fit in the little p7 trailer with the hb20 if needed. Going to take a little re education the lads after being spoilt by running big chippers for so long. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. Anybody seen the new m250 yet as could be just the thing for a contract we have picked up which on occasions involves extra travel outside our normal comfort zone so 1 of those in a trailer behind landy mewp is a all in 1 unit for doing these pruning, shaping and clearing lights nd camera's jobs. 20. Floor and walls are lined with pallets and walls have vent holes on them from when it was a cattle barn, we get plenty of wind on our area so have almost constant air flow through the heap, drys very quickly thankfully. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. The hb20 will get to places your avant won't stand a chance of getting but that'll be less hard work when you can get to stuff. You'll resell a purpose built machine any day of the week should you change your mind and want a bigger machine bit the predator I'd say you'll end up stuck with as has a limited market. 22. Laces get tangled or something? Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. Any view on the farmi winches, really liked the look of the 5 ton model build quality and had a rachet brake which I've always liked for tipping trees for its reliability and control at taking in just a smidgen of line if needed. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Almost got my indoor store full now for the small bit we do, about 120m3 by my guessing with a stride out tonight. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
