  1. I know that 1 all too well!! Your work is inspiration, dont think I could try anything with resin like that with my limited space and the amount of dust my workshed houses, would come in and fined a set of mouse prints in it. Keep us posted with a finished photo to make us more envious.
  2. Get a 90 1 as lots about and fit it on overhanging the bonnet with some surport struts into the windscreen hinge mounts and depending on where it ends onto the bumper or the top of the suspension turrets more room for ladders that way. I have a twin cab 130 and could not get hold of a 2nd hand 1 too fit so got a 90 1 for cheep made some struts down into windscreen and off we go, overhangs the windscreen by about 20". Makes some regular hedge cutting jobs so easy.
  3. I want to know how the electric generating bit works and can I fit a bigger 1 to my logburner in the house, free heat free lecky..... Think I might have found something for my xmas present and might have got some working reviews by then.
  4. The thing that bugs me in our area is not so much the travelling tree butchers as they might get a few jobs but no recommendations or repeat work anoying though they are its the lads working on the power lines taking on jobs for extra beer money turning up in nice new van shiny chipper new saws all the gear non of which has cost them a penny as they need it to do the day job and are just lucky to get to take it home over night/wend not to mention free fuel. Some I have seen doing quite a good standard of work some should sticks to spiking up trees on line clearance and at times I am left thinking yes I could have (insert expletives here) that tree for that price to but would be ashamed to have. I have worked for a very good big company with lots of gear whole if I priced a big dismantle against I would have no chance of winning as with there gear they can take every thing away and grind stump in a day where it would realistically take me 3, nothing to do with skills just having gear that speeds up jobs but they might not even bother pricing a little pruning job that I might make a good profit on as it would not even cover there overheads for that amount of time.
  5. check out my ad on arb trader for a new 1 you know you want a 200 not a 201
  6. Just to run the hall back line so not under any load as it was running free just travaling a little fast it turns out. I did use a tandam for the main speed line a paw under it and some slings. Actualy i used a tip from you rupe 1 sling up the tree getting put on a branch 1 travaling back up and 1 being taken of last branch on the ground it realy will save a few secs each turn that add up over the day.
  7. That i like, having done a bit of walling in the distant past i can c how much work will have gon into making that and it will outlast its creators by many years.
  8. that speed line set up is exactaly how i burnt out the bush in a revolver, the hall back line was travaling at such a speed and the heat build up just melted the little plastic bushing inside the revolving bit. nice vid, like the intro bits when we get to put a face of the climber and not just a pair of hands. I didnt think the tree was all that big till the last photo of some1 on top of all the timber..
  9. £1.48 per litre for derv x lots of miles x crap landy mpg = could get local bloke to do it cheeper
  10. It says I need to hit mine with a large branch to fix it, now where did I put my favourite stick...
  11. For part of my chip box that is galvy I was told to use a flexy paint for mettle guttering and down pipes as will stick well and take the bangs of chip hitting the outher side better, no good on ally so I have bin told. Etch prima it is for the canopy then. ow and a dry day to do it on-might be a while....
  12. I will take it this is the sort of paint you wont find on the shelves of b & q, is it paint on or spray?
  13. As the title says I want to paint the canopy for my 130 black so it looks a bit less like A sheep box, as I dont have it on all the time I didn't want to pay to have it sprayed £250. So any advice on best paint to use and should it be cleaned with anything apart from water 1st?
  14. :angryfire:Never touch my saws I may get angry:angryfire:
  15. Yes about 14 15 a hour so 140ish a day to make it pay depends on distance to travel like if I were to come as far as you swinny I woud burn 40 quids worth of derv getting to you and back so would be better of doing some felling locally for a lower rate but more profit, its a fine line to walk. Who you work for over thear, nice area.
  16. ms200t (got two for sale if interested) and something like a 441 with a 16 and 24" bar. Not the end of the world if you dont but a big help if you do . Bill in writing or by email when the job is done be it 1 day or a week some may pay you at the end of the day but always send a invoice. Use you're saw fuel in your saws there fuel in there saws and there chainoil in all..
  17. My wife would point out something (I still have to work on this 1) teach yourself not to sware as you never know who might be in ear shot the last thing you need is an amazing job ruined by a complaints about you clucking belling from the tree all day
  18. As a freelance climber it is likely that most of the jobs you will get called to do wont be the nice easy cut and drop nothing to worry about trees they will be they pig that there own staff don't want to or carnt do so having a decent rig kit is a big help but nothing to fancy or complicated as you don't want to waste time having to set up stuff and teach someone to use it, believe me it wont look good having to yell from the top of the tree how to do everything. I have done quiet a few big dismantles for 1 company recently not because he could not do it but because non of his ground staff had the experience to run speedlines, twin lowering lines etc so I climb he grounds his lads drag, all of which have been in head scratching positions. So like outher have said be honest about what you can do, lurn all you can from those you work with/for and if you come across something you aint got a clue how to do make something up fast and dont look scared even if your bricking it:blushing:
  19. What cost/price would you look at building into you day rate for providing all you lowering kit, bigger saws and outher tools above you're normal climbing kit , eg for doing a big take down as apposed to just titillating epicormic out of a lime tree with a silky as some firms wont have any of this themselves. Good tip I got told from someone who found out the hard way is only put fuel you have mixt in you're ssaws so no fall outs if one go's pop from neat fuel.
  20. Shelf it and buy 1 of the new 200's I have on arbtrader. Imo a old 200 is still better than a new 201, outhers will disagree and its true the 1 I got to use for a few days may not have got set up right but better the devil you know eh? Local dealer is mad keen on me getting a new top handle of the outher maker when they come out, keep telling him I will try but might not buy..
  21. Just found it at the side of the road 1 night... Joking, got the from a contractor who was replacing damaged signs for the highways agency, alloy so light but strong, just need a bits of dry weather to finished painting it all.
  22. . A few of my 130 doing wot landys do... Work for a living! Almost got the chip box finished, just the wings for the lift up lid to cut and fit somehow
  23. I love the way a bole opens up the grane of the timber for all to see. Like your work how long will it. take you to do this by hand? Your knives must be for 2 handed use?
