  1. EddieJ. how much do the super jaws cost and who sells them as they look like they would have so many uses for me.
  2. Ithink it had some sort of sub frame underneath to lift the body anough for the large tires. then just the standed axles with 5 stud hubs so that you could have normal wheels for long road work or the big ones for off road. from memery they were built to go behind argo cats and carry transformers for lecky poles then carry argo on the road but dont hold me to that. So wish i had got 1 now looking back at them, would have looked so cool behind my 130 and not acting like a ancor when i head off into the middle of a wood to pick up timber.
  3. How about something like this, was for sale by A C Price a while back. looked at it but didnt have the funds now wish i had borrowed and got it...
  4. Just a little hypocritical that the bloke is a joiner and makes his living from cut down trees.
  5. I have used this idear with the dmm ring doing the job of the butterfly not or a prussick sliding up and down the line. I like it as it's light, quick 2 set and remove and can be stuffed in the pouch on my harness when not needed. I would not recommend it for very heavy balancing as it creates a tight bend in the rigging line. As your rigging line gets bigger so does the ring so you can pass a blight of rope easily through it then clip in a beener with the sling forming the balancing triangle. Will have a go at setting it up for a pick in morn and post it off phone if I can work out how.
  6. Give up on the 360 and get a valtra with botex "long reach" up top and ill come Drive it 4 you.only 1 lot of derv being burnt that way.
  7. Rob I am doing a carving and chainsaw milling demo in a few weeks at a nature park "foxglove covert" open day and would happily have a few of your sales leaflets on my stand if you are interestedin some promotion 4 the mills.pm me if you are and I can send you my add and phone no. john.

  8. A machine that removes all the sawdust from your boby as you walk in the house so the wife dont yell at you for leaving a little trail all the way to the fridge.
  9. Thanks all,she loves it and spends loades of time playing in it. Now the wife wonts a decking extension in front of shutter window so hannah can play shop out of, just when I think I am finished along comes a "could you just" but still better than painting in the house!!
  10. Shirts with "extra work is chargable" printed on the back Wasp deterant , got stung today:thumbdown: boots that beep before you stand in dog poo. affordable working blue tooth headsets. Please!!!
  11. The holes are for peeping out of whitch to a 3year old is one of the best games in the world might put a few more in pannal above that 1 to let in a bit more light, they nowe have a sheet of plexy glass on the back to help keep rain out. The locks were coppied from a hundred odd yearold farm shed door i spotted while working and are so fitting in there simplicity and easy for little hands to open. I would love to have someone turn up and say they wont one making as enjoyed this lots but think the cost of the time would make it rather pricy but if Rob D reviels this new mill it might make that part of the job a bit quicker so bring time down.
  12. Have a look at 3rd pick in my alaskan cabin post of the mini mill at work. Fore wot this little mill costs it will save you so much time and will get the beam true so muchquicker. Also good for taking the sides off oversized logs so you can mill them.
  13. Yes Rob i used my 346 with a carving bar to cut out the mortice but then tidied it up with chisels. Update pic's door now fitted this took a bit of thinking as the main oak post is tapered (8"x8" bottom 3"x3" top) this looks nice but nothing is now at same angle as you would think, now just the fold down bed for when i fall out with the wife
  14. Thanks and thanks but not mine its a biomass pile that i got the timber from belonging to the local estate who i do a bit of work for.
  15. That will be the alaskan mini mill with my trusty o46 and 18" bar. Doing it like this you can cut multiple bits of the same size with each cut.
  16. Sorry about the last pic forgot to rotate it before posting the oak post is upright holding the ridge. Now all the larch cladding is on in held out the water fare better than i could have thought. I bid cheat with the timber for the door as i cut this on a friends bandsaw as was doing some oak on it so thought why not.
  17. Well the brochuer said it was possible but i didnt have the timber or the space for a full size house so i settled for a wendy house for my little girl.
  18. this is wot i love about milling your own timber it allowes you to be inventive and just make something because you can. nice worke mate.
  19. I can feel a wager coming on but as your a yorkshireman i wont push it more than a cup of tea:tee:
  20. HMMM support might not be the right word for it but if you wont to show you old dogs still have it put your kit in and enter on the day.... We pay for this privalage but for those who take it seriously ie win the prizes aint to bad...
  21. Got me and a mate places to have a thrash about in the climbing comp on sat ( wont be pritty ) Just wondering if any outher arb talkers are having a bash just for the fun of it and not taking themselvs to seriasly by only eating go faster paster till then. PS any tips so we dont look total farts??
  22. Made some of these out of a beam that twisted as i milled it, so no good for wot i wonted it for. Gave a few to friends as presents but having seen how much they are selling them for will add them to my craft range of things. Also I wish I could sell my mushrooms for that sort of money!!! Love the furniture Rob especialy the solid sofa, the wife now wonts 1 of these for a comunity school thingy she is involved with. wot was the resin you used to stabalise the soft timber?
  23. Have got the older 046 and use it for most of my mid size milling (up to 18") with a 24" bar<milling chain from rob D and it works fine, put my mates ms660 in to test it and didnot notice much diffence if any in cutting speed the trick is keeping the chain speed up and not pushing too hard and borking the chain so you hav to back off as this takes longer than a stedy smooth cut. top tip off all keep the chain SHARP.
  24. Wot no one seems to have picked up on is this mad mans 1st reaction was not Aaaaaahh s*!t i must pull this sharp thing out of my finger but more of a Aaaaaahh s!*t whear's my camara so i can put this on arbtalk.... I agree wit the glove thing i only put them on 2 stop the cold not to save my skin from getting durty.
  25. Dont like them carrytools after getting hung up by them sooo many times so i changed them for some simple bent gate beeners from DMM, they fold flat along side of the harness when nothing hung on them and i can still get my saw out of them 1 handed with a simila twisting of the ring. I also have a small crab on the right leg loop to hold the tail of my side strop so it aint dragging around my feet all the time. sorry no picks at mo.
