  4. Due to a increase in work load, I'm looking for a self employed operative for occasional work. Must have: Cs30/31 Pa1/6a Brushcutter/clearing saw Cs38 also an advantage as we do also do tree surgery. Please contact Tim at [email protected] with your details.
  5. We have a grab and rotor on our old grey cab 3cx. The grab came with a solenoid already mounted on it. We just connect it into the bucket curl ram pipe using agricultural quick fit connectors which aren't ideal. It will eventually have a proper tee piece and valve. The power is provided by an old guitar effects pedal in the cab with the wire carefully routed through hose pipe along the back actor. It works really well although it took several attempts to make the wires work with the extender hoe and still be removable.
  6. There is a downloadable example on the AA website. http://www.trees.org.uk/Help-for-Arborists/Help-becoming-an-ArbAC
  7. I do some cutting on Tilhill land. They are happy (for chainsaws etc only) to just carry a shovel, rubble sacks and cable ties. That way I can clean up small spills by shovelling contaminated soil in to a rubble sack and sealing it with a cable tie. Obviously this wouldn't work for larger spills.
  8. I heard a great story about tractor battery thefts. I guy brought two old tractors at auction . When he went to pick them up he discovered that the batteries had been stolen out of the tractors and most of the other machinery at the auction house. When he finally got the tractors home he looked them over and found £10000 cash in the unlocked toolbox. He contacted the auction centre and they in turn contacted the seller. It turned old out it was the previous owners savings. He was told however that legally the money was now his has he had won the auction ( this sounds a bit dubious). So the thieves had run off with a van load of old batteries and missed the. £10000 cash sat in the toolbox.
  9. Thanks rune, I had seen your post and will be looking carefully at mine when I pick it up. I'm not on here very much, that's an original pic of the Landy it's changed quite a bit since then.
  10. I would much rather use a 261 on the ground. However my 261 is knackered, in three years it's spent three times more time at the dealers not being fixed than it does in the wood ( but that's been covered in enough other treads). I do most of my work with a 171 at the mo because I know I can pick it up and it will do a days work and it's nice and light up a tree until I can justify a top handle. I am working with much larger timber at the moment so need the 25 inch bar. I just can't afford to replace the 261 aswell so was hoping to use the 461 for now and seeing as I already had a 16 inch bar from the 261 I thought that would be much less cumbersome.
  11. I have just ordered a 461. It will mainly be on a 25 inch bar for larger timber but my 261 is so unreliable the 461 will occasionally be used as my day to day ground saw. Can I use the 16 inch bar and chain off my 261 on the 461 or will I have to get a different combination? I know the 461 is listed in the catalogue for an 18 inch but chainsawbars offers a 15 and 16 inch bar for it.
  12. 1.) forester (with a bit or tree surgery on the side, now I have done my climbing tickets) 2.) logs (separate business) 3.) retained fireman 4.) full-time Carer to my partner
  13. Sorry to derail but where can I get a stihl to husky bar adapter? All the google results seen to be in America. * just seen the above post but is there anywhere in the uk?
