If I have no joy i might be back in contact with you, should not be to bad to get to you as only 3 mile and i am on th A1 and all the better if you are into a labour/material barter exchange as my time is mine to spend but money seems to be the wifes and less people like doing business this way these days

This is wot i came up with when the wife wonted some gates at the side of our house to stop little 1 escaping. Oak frame again done with the alasken and hazel infill, only prod is now some of the baby group friends wont 1, so thats why i need to source somewhear i can cut hazel as i need it.

Its a off cut of oak from some dead standing trees I milled with my alaskan mill. ithink it's the start of CODIT that has given it the interesting grain.

Looking for some hazel in north north yorkshire or south durham area as started to make more of these little chairs and a few outher crafty things but struggle to finde a good surply of coppice to work with. will work for wot i cut if any1 knowes of any.

Have you got sorted yet with some spikes as have a pair of klien with new pads and pos a set of bashalins with rap arounds that i could be swayed to sell..

The 192/200 are a bit harder too swop over as have outbourd cluches so you have too lock the piston and spinn this off to change over to the smaller chain, a bit of a pain if not a regular user. The best saw's for all round use that i have are the ms260 and the husky346xp bothe do normal saw work and carve but arnt realy budget saws but worth it in the long run. Dont know any1 that runs a small husky simila to a 180 size so carnt coment on the quality. good luck with not a easy desision.

Had 1 of these splitters for about 5 years now not a lot it wont split and very little break downs, only problem has been the cable from the handles down to the valves snapping at the clamp, local push bike shop can get you sorted if this happens. Get the wider knife so it dont leave the anoying stringy bit at the bottom.

Stubby 20t jack made keeping this big beech from sitting down on the saw bar till it was cut up and winch could pull it over, much safer than trying to take in 1" of cable at a time. ALLWAYS BACK UP WITH WEDGES.

Had valtra do that to me but was reversing with baily trailer full of stone,back tire tried climbing over drawbar then was v stuck and had to call in the mog to lend a pull so i could get clear of the road. Not a fun time!!!

I know wot you mean about burning eye's as milled some larch on sat and was suffering but ran out of normal fuel before i got done wot i needed so used 2 fills of Aspen i had just picked up 2 try next week for hedgecutting, made a big differance to how i felt and you could almost say it smelt nice... Didnt notice any power drop off but was only using a 046 in the vertical mill with 16" bar to cut the slabs into beems. Think it might hurt the wallet a bit much to run the 088 on it all the time but am willing to giv it a go in the smaller stuff for now.

Thought my 54" took a bit of holding on too but 72" you need big gun's too hold that for any length of time. you could swop the bar tip and sprocket and run 3/8 chain as this is wot i do when milling and it dont seam to stress the saw as mucch as.404. always hate to see a big tree go but on the outher hand i do love cutting them down, looking 4ward to part 2.

cheers Rob, all hazel rods and joints only held in by the natural shrinking of the timber. Cut all the tennon bits 1st and let them dry in sun for a few days before cutting and drilling the mortice bits, all the joints wer quite a tight fit to start with and only get more so as everthing shrinks and only 20" tall for a 2year old! jast show's not all alaskanmill prodjects need three blokes to lift it only the very impressive 1's.

Also made this for my little girl a few weeks ago. the seat is just an offcut from a bit of oak that twisted a bit but made a nice curve to sit on, holds my weight so carnt be that bad!

You misstake the wild meddow grass/flower area of our garden for grass i just didnt get round too cutting

Spent the weekend making this for wifes birthday ( cover story for spending the time making wot i wont ) The table is all cedar and the benches beech and all hed together with broom handles..

normal clobber for me but with some FM radio ear protectors insted of helmet. only time i snaped a chain while milling was when finishing the cut and the weight of the slab poped out the wedge and traped the chain at full chaff, 54" of .325 chain snap!!

[/ATTACH][/ATTACH] first one is of my little beast.2nd is how to stop the winch pulling the tractor back when you carnt sink the but plate in(strap a mog to the front) and the 3rd is wot i drive now for the company i work for during the week, well nice bit of kit to drive and opperate.

Got some nice fresh milled cedre at the mo aprox 18"x3"x9'(old school i know) 5 left i think and im only just off a1 on your way past if you wont a look.
