  1. You getting a platform on the new shiny mog like the blue beasty? Keep them pictures coming to make us all green with envy! Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  2. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  3. Now I'm late after spending about half an hour pissing myself at this genius , worrying thing is I've worked with people who are genuinely like this all the time Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  4. Ear defenders are not up to chipper quality sound protection and always found that particular visor only comes half way down my face and provides very little protection. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  5. That's what I did if less than perfect conditions requiring mewps, traffic management, number of trees etc. Mrs git is an expert at writing get out clauses into things but making a point that these things could mean the price could go down as well as up per unit. As if sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  6. Not when they have there own men to do the simple stuff and the things that go out to contractors are the head scratches or the ones that will cost a fortune should they go wrong so law of averages is slightly tilted against you working on that theory. Plus this is the council that can not see the problem with leaving a stone dead birch standing for nearly two years in the middle of a public park where people frequently pick nick or play. Anyway got a site meeting with the T O next week so will quiz him on the relevance of it all again. My gut feeling was it was a paper pushing project to help justify keeping there own staff on as being cost affective for small maintenance works. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  7. But how do you put a price on, remove tree more than 8m but less than 12m? Can it be felled/dismantled or require a mewp. Is it a single stem spruce that will only half fill the truck or an old oak with a 10m crown spread that will require a hyab to remove the 6 ton of timber. Roads, footpaths, traffic management. All this can turn a simple half day for two into a big task requiring thousands of pounds of hired in equipment more staff and several days from the same vague speck. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  8. I contacted the tree officer for some clarification on these questions but they were no help as they didn't understand the questions themselves as obviously a form copied of the net someplace so put in a bit of a disclaimer at the bottom of the form stating that the prices were a guide only and each job would need pricing on its own merit due to trees being so a diverse and location and safety issues being to varied to be covered under a single price. Must have been ok as got some to price next week for them that is logistically quite complicated. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  9. You would prob get the best price on a genie lift from nationwide for that size and timescale. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  10. Makes it justifiable to put even occasional uses and part time staff through the ticket so that they are classed as competent and more likely covered by your insurance if anything should go wrong. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  11. Going to try and sort 1 near me (richmond, North Yorkshire.) end April start of may as got a trainee and brash grunt that could do with having it for council contract work, easiest way iv found is just get the lantra workbook or afag guides, work through them as in house training and then get an independent assessment done on site with your machine. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  12. That looks good Eddie, bet it's pricy but save some amount of time if your regularly swapping stuff over and save some strain on the tilt rotator for normal digging sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  13. If you flick down the related video list after that link you will find a clip of the katanaboy cutting a 4" tree in 6 strokes. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  14. Wouldn't know, can't stand the stuff Proper beer all the way or guiness if in it the only thing on offer sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  15. Hay hay hay! Thought you was back up north to do some for me Ah well it's there if you want it but Thursday we'd much appreciate a good roap runner at polam hall to monolith the emblem tree. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  16. Next time I have to think of a round for a quiz that'll be it, thanks sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  17. My wife now thinks iv totally cracked after I'm sat with tears rolling down my face almost unable to keep reading for laughing. Going to copy that for the workshop wall next to the hse poster  sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  18. This is the t170 with 570tl I drive at moment handling rather large redwood and a t160 with 570tl handling some heavy oak a few years ago. Prefer the longer reach of the 570 and haven't noticed any less lift close in than the 560 but as said watch your pipes. Years ago I used a 4pot valtra with a forestaria crane on top and found it very wobbly even with ballasted wheels and rim weights and a huge block on the front. I'd always go 6pot, stability over maneuverability any day, if you're in a tight space folding up the grab bar on the front can help. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  19. Not too bad at all, still smarts if I nock it hard or a small child jumps on it in bed at 5am on a Sunday morning sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  20. Such a hard life you lead!! I feel so sorry for you. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  21. Got the hedge tamed today with 2 more rb44 loades of chip and an overloaded ifor of timber. Spot the BT wire that made things fun. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  22. Tie a slip knot above the zz and clip the bottom carabiner to it so it can't slip anywhere, always did this with the hitchclimber as it did slip up 1day just out of reach which was not easy to sort. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  23. Hb20 then from your description. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  24. Just wish it didn't have 6 BT lines in it, 1 that runs the whole length inside the hedge sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
  25. Forgot to add this, oak, 6"down, 30min, just keep em sharp and clear the crud before it gets in your way. sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.
