  2. yeah its a denso, brushes look fine so guessing something deeper.had jap for years now and usually seems cheaper to buy second hand parts than to re-con,unless you know the right people i suppose and i don't!!
  3. before i trawl the minefield of dodgy spares dealers and internet card robbing details sharks, just thought i'd ask on here first, you never know I'm after the above, its a 94 2.8tdx independent, bought 2 in succession off e-bay,both wrong.mine has 11 splines on the end,the ones i bought have 9.also i have 2 going cheap with 9 splines if anyone needs one
  4. good philosophy.most of my poor payers are pubs,i used to be very understanding and tolerant until my own bills got behind, one of them was too busy on gordon ramsay's F WORD to obviously pay me
  5. I think the 460 is a great saw, future classic like the husky 254 is.ultra reliable and full of grunt.not without its criticisms though.awkward switch and not the most manouverable IMO,i've had a husky 372 (in protest initially) since last june and apart from the odd quirk its been great,i think it lacks the raw power of the 460 but seems reasonably economical, reliable so far and easier to chuck around.having said all that i'd take the 460 new if the price was right
  6. i find some beech burns better after one summer of seasoning than two or more, got some 3 year old and it chars before it burns,i have to mix it for customers
  7. my mrs got a petrol shogun auto, chucks the kids in it for school and floors it up a very long hill every morning from cold, makes me wince but can't tell her
  8. no sign writing? not an issue.no chipper? not an issue.little ppe? an issue.old battered husky? he's lucky it still runs lol I do see your point though
  9. good stuff,i got a bizarre mix of dry pallet wood and some green oak on my burner tonight, forgot to stop at yard and grab some logs, bit like a builder and his extension i suppose! I've sold alot of dry elm over the years and never had one complaint,it can be hard work but worth it.i fancy one of them gransfors, where'd you pick it up from?
  10. sounds just my luck! you into milling now then? what sort of bits you after? i'll bear it in mind
  11. hi mate, yeah coming back to life slowly.last years been a test, woman trouble, housing trouble, cleaned out by thieves uninsured trouble, internet trouble and health trouble, lots of trouble then!! don't get down your way so much now but do occasionally so if you got any dirt cheap wood or passing my way drop me a line and we'll have a deal p.s done some web research and the 'rat' is pretty nailed on a staffy cross whippet, runs like the wind and destroys all he catches lol
  12. well said mate,i'm still stihl at heart but my patience is thin, the tractor garage in my village is an echo dealer and i'm gonna give them a try for one saw come spring, not sure which yet but the deal will be good.i would personally like to see the arrogant german smirk back on top,cos when they are you can't touch em,the balls in their court
  13. my old man (me too!) said(says) small wood no dogs, big wood big dogs!!!!
  14. i'm guessing its a super major, power majors lived a shorter life with their head gasket trouble, not that many left
  15. I pay 10 quid a ton for surgery waste.northants,cambs,leics,beds.3" upwards,hard or soft.pick up 2 or 3 ton a time when i'm passing.bigger loads can be arranged.steve 07901 503501
  16. only reason i would buy one (if flush, which i aint!) would be to mothball it and sell as a collectors piece in 15yrs time cos they'll only sell a couple of dozen!!!
  17. I gotta whippet cross staffy thingumagig,he's got very thin skin and a smooth haired coat.he was forever shivering last winter as a pup but he flies out the van now come rain, snow, frost or sun.got his own bed in the van and if he gets wet i'll cover him up but he won't stay there long, rather look out the window shivering.mind you he does collapse in front of the fire soon as we get home and gives me the dirtiest of looks when i kick him into the porch at bedtime
  18. good luck with your cubic metre of wood mate
  19. numbers 07901 503501 mate

  20. If your open to idea's sam i would suggest sticking a name up,phone sam etc or mrs/mother/office birds name, whoever answers the phone, good luck mate, looks good steve
  21. i've sold loads of it the last couple of years, pushed it up to 60 quid a cubic metre now and no complaints,i also mix in about 10% with hardwood loads for woodburners, cut, split and stacked in spring its bone dry by september
  22. farmer is keen to see it go,he's left a couple of voicemails on the guys phone.if he wants to part with it i can take a few pics and email them to ya,will keep on trying him,i need the barn too!

  23. I take a tub of last nights home made madras now and again,my young un flies out the van when we get to work
  24. Bending the thread slightly i have a splinter of railway sleeper buried deep in the palm of my left hand, been there 7 years,i didnt know,it only swelled up last summer, its about the size of a large marble.its not painful but awkward to work with.its being cut out next week, gotta have a general anaesthetic needless to say i now wear gloves when handling sleepers and thorn hedges
  25. i know all the years i sent lorries away with large scotch and corsican i was always surprised how they got their weight with big sawlogs, lorry looked half full, just surprised twice as much beech would be the same weight.i usually reckon about 30 cubic feet of beech to the ton so sounds about right
