True, abt 3m to 5m is optimum fr small bird / song bird nestin ( safe fledging height for small birds) with a Standard every 10m or so, Oak or Sycamore crown lifted to 5.2m for Highways Act clearance, larver birds and raptors prefer those, if on a steep roadside banked hedge, allow about 2m height of hazel coppice to hide yr Panzerfaust in, for a crack at that Sherman tank. K
  20. Not enuff info but will wade in anyway. Tree removal often gets carried out regardless of actual processess involved. Are you on shrinkable clay? Best check first ( from engineers bore hole / test hole results) i have seen reported clay on top of gravel beds ( foundations weren't dug deep enuff) K
