  1. Currently a basic monthly salary of 1500euros net for both main climbers who each have just 2 years experience but are productive and bring great energy and innovation to our business. I'll expect them to be on around 1800 in a couple of years. Bonus paid twice a year based on profit. Tax free company savings scheme, annual contribution by employee 300euros, employer pays in 900euros. Takes 5 years to mature though. Sub-contractors 150-180 for small domestic hedge and tree work plus landscaping with a bonus for larger or more difficult trees. Ty
  2. Have have you seen it all? I mean, where is your role in all this? Ty:confused1:
  3. 1200€-1500€ inc vat £900-£1100 at todays exchange rate. Ty
  4. We pay 50% on top of our wage in social charges. 30% on dividends although there is a lower rate of 15% If we keep the profit in the company we pay 10% THEN! Personal income tax as every one here is self assesed. The amount varies on the number of your family, whether you employ home helps and a thousand little things you can claim like travel to work over a certain distance and home improvements. It works out at around 62.5% over all tax rate for me. Which is why I work 2 Saturdays/Moneydays per month. There is an expression here used by small traders, "4 days for France, 1 day for myself" Ty
  5. An alternative life choice made by too many is to sign on. The state will provide housing. Reduction in phone and services. Give a couple with 2 kids just 10% less than a single wage earner, married with 2 kids. Work a little undeclared and life is looking rosy. Ty
  6. The French business system is set up so that it unintentionally discourages people from turning over more than 34k euros a year. After this figure has been breached, vat, accountants and a whole raft of other issues faces the small business man. Most in our line of work declare just under 34k and take cash wherever possible. Some, afraid of taking such a 'risque' prefer to close their doors taking long breaks to avoid having to make too much money and instead resign themselves to a life scuffing along on the breadline and near poverty. 34k turnover, leaves you with 25'500 after social charges. 25'500euros with which to run a truck, chipper and pay a wage? The French state shoots itself in the foot by micromanaging business here. Ty
  7. I got my part number off the switch itself. I have previously been sent similar switches which where in compatible due to size/depth. Got to get it right and wish to avoid either Lemon Plant or the French Carlton dealer and his comedy prices. Ty
  8. Ah! So it is known as both an 1tl1-7 and an MS24523/27 Correct...? Ty
  9. Got the Elder 'Lee' looking into it (Used to build missile homing heads) "I found the precise part on the Honeywell site - MS24523-27 is the part no. It is $13.759 for one and a little cheaper for multiples but unfortunately there are no European outlets. Dad." Any-one else better at searching the web? Ty
  10. Hello, I'm looking for an alternative source of the switches used on the Carlton 4012 radio remote control unit. Any pointers appreciated. Cheers Ty
  11. On larger stumps, I work with a lickspittle on rake and barrow duty. His job his to clear the grindings away. I first reverse the machine away from the stump then check my Facebook for whatever daily wisdom Mick has posted. This is is normally time enough and it's drive back up to the stump. Just re-visited a council job for a whole root as it turns out. The clean up crew (I just grind) used a JCB for the grindings exposing previously well hidden roots which then stuck up preventing the passage of the council mowers. I'm on local stumps this afternoon IF the bodged Murphy switch holds out. It just...fell apart with the vibrations. This morning, a lie in as part of my reduced hours as I cannot take full 'paternity leave' being self employed. The Murphy switch I sourced from Enovation in the U.K. Their French office being out of stock. Another local electronics supplier wanted a minimum order of 50! £45 switch, £45 postage DHL....ah well. When in need and needs must... The Greenmech filler cap which is of a similar size was only £9.50 postage by Royal Mail. Replaced again another toggle switch on the remote, head up and down, would freeze in down position. I had this issue when I bought the machine and the engineers at 'Lemon Plant' sent me out wiring diagrams, and had me taking apart the innards on site checking wires for bad earths and proposing all sorts of possible causes. In the end, one of the biggest culprits was the worn out toggle switches on the radio remote, expendable and simple to replace. Today, a miserable 45m line of large hazel stumps left high as they are full of metal, stone and glass. Once out I'll plant an ornamental hedge. Today, I will be bored... Ty
  12. Sorry if I have mis-understood. Did that gurt stump take 2 days or did you do more than that one? Regards Ty
  13. It's the 'leatherette' interior which swayed me...hhh! Ty
  14. Loving our 7t Iveco. 3.6t payload = the maximum m3 of chip we can load. Double ram, alloy sides, tool box with hand tool basket on top. Twin turbo, pulls well all through the range and a difflock which we've not used yet. Ty
  15. I was an ultra distance cyclist until family, business and injury knocked that on the head. Seriously looking at high end E'bikes as a solution to my issues with fitness and riding as an escape from stress. I've a tendance to ride too far and too hard thus 'blowing' far from home and suffering a miserable return ride.
  16. Don't they speak French in Vietnam...? Ty
  17. Thank you to those who have contacted me. Being able to speak a little French... it's very important. 3 of my lads don't speak alot of English, so if you can't understand a even a few basic words then from past experience I know you'll feel left out, frustrated and be unable to function efficiently as a team member should. Ty
  18. I view fencing, new shed builds and guttering repairs merely as add on sales...clumsy ole me... Ty
  19. Personally, I never walk around the front of a working machine when I can walk around the rear. Never turn your back on a working machine or drag brash past one. Give these machines a wide berth and make sure any work experience lads or newby numpties are kept away. I've had 2 almost walk into a wheel, one only saved me giving him a hard shove away from the 4012 which he was actually angry about the other dragged brash backwards close to the HB20 and fell over just missing the head. Some people don't seem to be able to see danger in rakes left lying about let alone more serious danger. Ty

  21. Based near Rennes, Le Jardinier Anglais is an Anglo-French owned limited company. Most of our work is tree related although groundscare, fencing and landscaping are also a significant part of our business. We have a salaried position available for a climber who also has some experience in the above or who wouldn't mind undertaking other duties as they come along. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3 years experience, be confident with rigging and pruning as well as able to speak a basic level of French. Also accomodation with meals near to our base can also be arranged. Immediate start possible. Minimum 3 months contract. You initially supply your own climbing kit and PPE. A word of warning, France is very boring for single males. There is little night life, no pubs, girls in shops don't flirt, they scowl. Everything is closed, Sunday is double closed and locked. Bars are generally horrible, plastic, soul-less places that when open close at around 7pm. The ones who manage to make a successful life here are generally couples or families. Lone males rarely last beyond 3 months. The Winter increases the boredom level and even more things are closed. Contact Stuart Lee via the web site. Looking for an experienced climber, competant with reductions and large dismantles, rigging etc but who also doesn't mind getting involved in landscaping and grounds care. Clean living family man ideally, fed up with people who are running away from something back home or functioning alcoholic substance abusers who rob their employers. Ty
  23. Hello Hodge, Tell us your story, why are you moving? Regards Ty
  24. Cheers Eddie and MonkeyB, I'll order one tomorrow. Ty
