  1. I called HMRC about a tax refund on my private pension lump sum. Yes, I am that old and it feels rather strange too. I was on the phone for 52 minutes in all. The lass dealing with me was quite pleasant and helpful so when she offered to sign me up to the HMRC A.I voice recognition service I declined because and I told her, I value the human contact at the end of the phone. Now, without resorting to A I, can someone please i.d this twig ? Medium size street tree here in Liffré Unfortunately the commune has blown the leaves away so no clues there. I was thinking a variety of elm.
  2. One thing about the 37hp Vanguard Efi was the number of engines that failed due to running out of oil. Often with the space of a blade change so 40hrs I found to my cost. I myself came very close twice to this yet the oil pressure sensor did not pick this up resulting in several reported cases of total engine failure not covered by warranty because you are supposed to check your oil level daily. Well, any engine in the 21st century that requires a daily oil check must be very poorly engineered indeed. Since the introduction of the 40hp version, internet chatter concerning 37hp Efi engine issues has been nonexistent.
  3. At one point, I was on the phone to GA Groundcare getting them to disconnect the O2 sensor live to prove to the Efi mechanic that it was not the source of the problem.
  4. Hey ! I'm no gloater, so no schadenfreude from me ! The only positive I can get behind is that now someone respected and vocal is now able to recount his own Efi woes. It's not like Efi is a new tech either. Cars have had Efi since the 80's Just why the ECU software requires regular updates is beyond all ken. It's not as though it's connected to the internet and subject to viruses. Nor is the engine self tuning to any meaningful degree. It seems to me to be a weird ploy to get you to use dealers. Dealers who are virtually nonexistent by the way. Keep us informed, no shame in letting rip on here. At least the mechanic was knowledgeable and honest.
  5. I previously found that no local 'moto-culture' the usual small engine outfits wanted to touch Efi. Whilst my area is thick with diesel mechanics serving the agricultural and construction industries. I do know that Kohler have a large office in Brest. Perhaps contacting them to find a dealer local to you ?
  6. They call him "Diggerless Dempsey" which is better than than "Dégeulass Dempsey" Few will understand this play of words...
  7. Thanks, which brand are these ? I've tried expanding the image but can't read the details.
  8. Mine uses a remote. If I lose it, it is relatively easy to replace and partner up.
  9. Thanks, I've just looked but can't see it. Could you message me with the link ? Tyres are half worn anyway.
  10. O.K, reporting back. So, it's been useful putting the chipper away and for positioning on hard standing and gravel. Off road on a clients lawn, slight problem. This is due to the rollers requiring more purchase when the tyres are slippery. One roller slips a little so I'm constantly having to adjust the direction but it got into a garden and back out across a damp lawn without leaving a mess. Saved us a long unhappy drag though so I still count it a success. Now to get the the rollers repositioned or perhaps a meatier set of tyres...
  11. Does using the diesel block mean that the stroke is longer so revs slower with more torque ?
  12. Or E85 which is only 67.5 cents per litre, a euro less than SP98
  13. This popped up on my FB feed. 39 тыс. просмотров · 14 тыс. реакций | You're not losing your spark... WWW.FACEBOOK.COM You're not losing your spark my friend I can relate to this condition, it makes more sense rather than simple depression.
  14. Clearly not oiling right, you need to focus on your maintenance regime before blaming the lack of a sparkplug for a lacklustre performance... 😂
  15. Something tells me that a fresh sparkplug might not change it's fortunes overnight...
  16. Ah yes, I should have read further...
  17. Does this correspond to my needs ? I often buy supplies from this company in Germany. https://shop.saegenspezi.de/Professional-repair-kit-for-thread-spark-plug-M14-x-125-with-tapping-and-inserts-for-chainsaws-and-other-small-devices
  18. Strange occurrence on my oldest 2016 MS 261 it didn't just unwind to my knowledge, it was running great but suddenly the sparkplug popped out and saw dead. I tried red loctite, that lasted until the saw got properly hot again. Is there anything else I can do to fix the sparkplug in, tap out a wider hole or some permanent metal glue perhaps before consigning it to the parts bin ? I could do with an old near valueless saw to keep at my wood storage for occasional use. It's only ever been run on Aspen On the plus side, I now have a damn good excuse to buy a new saw, been over two years since I did that Cheers Stuart
  19. Yes, true, though I will drive it in reverse for the most part which will limit that and can open the infeed to lower the weight on the drawbar. Jockey is due for replacement anyway so I might look at fatter model. The original one fell apart very quickly and the current one is a design that folds up as you wind it. Bit close to the truck and the winder has been hit a few times. I'm sceptical about the longevity of the control box given heat and vibrations.
  20. Is this Shane Smith the self proclaimed Gypsy Tree King...?
  21. VID_20251223_171601.mp4 A repeat client, newly retired from a caravan dealership where he worked as a fitter/mechanic, took these motors off a caravan that had been in an accident. In exchange for some tree work and firewood, I now don't need to pop a vein in my neck pushing 1000kg into my garage each evening. Yet to try it on grass but I've a job in January where we can give it a Wang. Just in case it doesn't work, my colleague will bring his 4x4 mower to tow it into place. It this proves successful, I'll look at a more beefed up jockey. I need to adjust a rubber air hose to give the control box under the hood more room. I'll also upgrade the battery for a higher capacity one. VID_20251223_155548.mp4 VID_20251223_121329.mp4
  22. Maybe re-phrase my question. I was once roadside on a busy 'B' road just out of town. Large signs and bright landscaping caught clients eyes. I felt it really helped raise the businesses profile, credibility even and bring in alot of work. That was the past. Since I restarted in 2018, I've been near invisible except for Google. Tucked away on a housing estate, low profile so not to upset the neighbours. My turnover long since hit a ceiling that seems strangely difficult to break through. So, I am reaching out to ask if others have moved their businesses to a more public location and found turnover (profit hopefully) increased as a result of the exposure despite extra costs in rent. Stuart
  23. What I would like to know, has anyone moved to a prominently situated premises and found it led to an upsurge in trade ? I don't actually need the extra room but I'd like to consolidate what little equipment I have as it is spread between three sites, being a farm, lockups and home.
  24. It is, outrageous given it's just empty space, not even a loo (can be installed at my cost) but it's the least expensive in town. I'm also not in rural France but in a satellite town of a major economic hub. I'm faced with a stalemate situation. To afford a house of my own I must move out of town. Move out of town means relocating the business away from the epicenter sweet spot of my clientele. People call the most local business not one 15kms away where properties become affordable. Fine if I didn't also have ambitions to employ and replace my truck and could take the inevitable hit in calls. €800 equates to one days work after paying the subby climber. It fills me with anxiety to think I might be pissing money away for no good reason whilst also filling me will anxiety that if I don't do it I'll never know if it will indeed work out just fine. I must let the agency know tomorrow, meanwhile, devoid of alcohol, I'm going to eat and entire bar of Dairy Milk...
