  1. Its a 14-24 Rob, dont use it very often but its a lovely lens! A few more.....
  2. Six Lombardy Poplars on a public recreation ground got a good bashing today. This row of pops’ have history - three total failures during storms and one partial failure a few weeks ago in moderate wind. Decision was made for removal and re-plant (Quercus fastigiata). Today was a joint effort between us, the lads from Adrian Hope Tree Services and the Gartland brothers (owners of that wonderful Matador)...
  3. Think a naked woman wrapped round the centre tree would look wonderful…
  4. Hmmm...recognisable yet abstract...
  5. Been doing one last week in a play area, it was below freezing all week - will be interesting to see it come next summer...
  6. Nothing fancy, just a slow shutter speed, focus on one tree then just pan the camera in an up and down motion. The ones that look ‘funny’ were taken with a very wide-angle lens which has picked up the distortion. Just a bit of fun really, makes a boring picture of some trees ever-so-slightly more interesting.
  7. Street pollarding is a way of retaining large trees in an urban environment. Many years ago labour was comparatively cheap and large gangs would go out and re-pollard our street trees comparatively often. Sadly more recently council budgets have got tighter and tighter, most street trees will be owned by the highway authority (who more often than not think of trees as a hindrance, not an asset). Here in Worcester we’ve more or less re-pollarded all our lapsed pollards and are looking to re-introduce a 5 yearly regime. This I think is the way forward, yes it hits them hard but as yet we haven’t had a tree die due to stress and strain. There will never be the money in local authority that there once was, that I’m afraid is a fact.
  8. Fair enough, I can take it (sniff, sniff ) Feedback is much o appreciated
  9. Little tip - be careful if you wear these new charity wrist-bands (they work themselves down around the base of the glove and if it gets snagged if bye-bye hand).
  10. I used to buy and sell used Landrovers direct from the MOD, stopped when they went out to tender and not auction. There are some nice buys out there and can be good fun looking. If they ever go back to auction I’d highly recommend giving it a go.
  11. I’m a nervous wreck these days Dean, was trying to take some normal shots when a pretty lady walked past - these were the result! lol
  12. Nice to see the raffle up and running again Steve, its almost become as much a part of Christmas as mince-pies and Christmas pudding. Lovely looking prizes - well done to all the sponsors!
  13. I call these either Marmite or Barcode pictures (you’ll either love ‘em or hate ‘em). Taken in my local woodland where there is a small section of Hornbeam planted. I’ve found a local printers that specialize in canvas and I’m thinking they would look quite nice hung on my wall… ….see what you think
  14. Happy Birthday Pete, have a good 'un mate!
  15. If we cant get into work we have to take it as leave
  16. That doesn’t say much for your social life then David! Lol I’m ok thanks mate, taking medication now as I finally gave up trying to sort the mess out myself , thanks for asking buddy.
  17. Here you go, this will take you straight in to it....BBC iPlayer - The One Show: 02/12/2010
  18. They said they'd tell me when it would be shown - missed my moment of fame
  19. Missed it, gutted - fell fast asleep!
  20. Something a little bit different - done with a 1 x sec’ shutter speed panning in a downward motion.
  21. This week I bought myself some new glass (70-200, 2.8vr). This means my 70-300vr is surplus to requirements, it’s a Nikon fit and in pristine condition with all boxes, covers etc.. I’ll post some pictures over the weekend if anyone’s interested.
  22. 26 pops!!?? I’ve just spent the best part of the day raking-up after yesterday (and that was only two!) I’d lean heavy on the pen if I were you Tony!
