  1. The event is added to the group - Login | Facebook Join the group, tell us if your coming and what day -
  2. That’s great! I’ll pop it into the events section on the Arbtalk FaceBook page. If anyone is going, register on there and we could all meet up for a pint (or two)
  3. That thought has crossed my tiny little mind, but here in L/A Land its just not cricket to rush thing.
  4. Looks to me like it could be an old lightning wound which has caused some xylem dysfunction and has now been colonised with the associated saprophytic fungi. If you were a good Arborist Tom you wouldn't have to ask on here!
  5. Thanks for your input David. The land is managed by our in-house ranger team as a nature reserve, in effect we were carrying the work out for them. I’ve already been asked to put together some information, along with the photos…..(I think we’ll be doing a few more in the future)
  6. Cheers Stevie. I can’t imagine we’ll be doing it very often, but in this setting, on this tree it just seemed right to give it a go. I agree with you on Matt – Top Job! The tree was odd when the large stuff was coming down (it hardly moved) yet when Matt was climbing it you could see the twist of the main stem in the crown – very un-nerving!
  7. Not very often to be honest. We use the commercial jobbies now which weigh a hell of a lot, usually end-up leaving them in the yard.
  8. Our first attempt at coronet-cutting….. This was our first proper attempt at coronet cutting and fracture pruning. As you can see there is extensive decay at the stem base coupled with severe fire damage (bless the little darlings ). I’ve already removed one Oak which stood close-by a few years ago and really didn’t want to fell this old girl (there is a footpath within falling distance of the tree). What do you think? Climber was Matt, Tom put the bat box in and I was groundie/camera man.

  11. Well done and congratulations!! Nothing like that ‘I’ve passed an NPTC feeling’!
  12. Stumbled across this today, thought I’d share it. One year in 120 seconds on Vimeo
  13. Stepped out the back door and took a few of the garden this morning….
  14. Yes mate, they work well, just bought a throat mike for Call of Duty and now thinking these would work well with this set-up. (watch this space) To be fair we don’t run around looking like that every day; but I am a firm believer that if you kit out a team in kit like Hi-Flex, Stein jackets, quality boots etc..you present a professional image which must have a positive effect on the business. One thing I don’t buy for myself is shiny climbing kit, but that’s personal preference. If the guys want kit, and it’s justified, then fair-play – I’ll buy it. Ps.....Watch the language and abbreviations chaps.
  15. I'm on-line, Call sign Yoeddy37 Only bought it the other day and only just managed to go on-line. Excellent game!!!
  16. Just bought that mate! Are you on line?
  17. Wonder if its coming our way then? Hope so!!
  18. We spent the morning logging up 4 x Lime trees at our local racecourse, decided to pack-in about 11am. Got the van stuck on ice, managed to free it and then got stuck in the snow! We managed to free it by blowing a path through the snow with the back-pack blower. As Gunny Highway once said – Adapt, improvise and overcome.
