  1. Busy trying to find somewhere for a breakfast! See you all tomorrow…
  2. Cant believe how wet some people are! I’d have done my nut and shouted every obscenity known to man! Good post.
  3. Do you know whenever I go to that wood its strangely sterile , not much visible activity at all. A few G‘dermas noted this morning but nothing worthy of reaching for the shutter button. The wood itself is being subjected to some significant clearance (originally it was open pasture land with mainly pollarded Sweet Chestnuts). Beech and Oak have since crept in and its these that are being felled. Would make an excellent location for a workshop! .
  4. Nice set of pics, shame they had to go.....
  5. A few more from a walk in Hanbury Woods this morning…..
  6. Brought a smile to my face Mick, I recon working with you would be therapy for me! Cheers mate.
  7. Glad your OK Scott, thanks for posting
  8. Very sad news, thoughts go out to all his family and friends.
  9. Thanks BBB, much appreciated. :thumbup1: The crocks will be logged-up shortly I suspect, t’was just Matt mucking about, plus he’s got a log burner!
  10. There are plenty of lovely ‘watering holes’ down in the village Dave, if we finish at a reasonable time its just a quick drive down Fish Hill and your there…. This one is my favourite – you get some very classy ‘ladies’ in the Swan.
  11. This is becoming/ has become a little Arbtalk shindig. It’ll be nice to catch-up and put new names to faces. Anyone fancy a drink afterwards??
  12. Good idea! Will remember that one….
  13. They’re really enjoying this type of work; they’ve come straight from the private sector where I guess money money money is one of the main factors. Here in L/A land the work is a little more varied and its nice to take time on interesting little jobs like this. We’ve got a monster Oak coming up with a similar spec. I might do it in two stages and bring the MEWP in to aid positioning for the final cuts.
  14. Mr. Rubber Mallet David – did you notice the ‘vertical-bore cuts’? Done especially for you… ….will monitor and maybe pop back with a few s/s nails.
  15. Today’s job, couple of nice Ash trees located on a wildlife corridor on the edge of a housing development in Worcester. Various defects inc. hollows, cavities, vertical splits (well done Tom for spotting that one!)….the list goes on. Trees were very close to a well-used public footpath, hopefully their new image will be well received by the local residents! Climbers were Tom and Matt, I was general groundie, brash-dragger, chipper operator, log-carrier, poop a scooper, and photographer.
  16. Cheers David, nice one!! I'm almost at the point of ordering one and an 088 to go with it! What size mill do you recon I should get??

    John.

  17. Read this on Facebook earlier, glad your ok mate (we’ve all done it). Well done for remembering to take some pics!
  18. Good way to market a book – I’ll be buying!
  19. Thanks for the input Rob, much appreciated! I’ve just come back from an ‘eyeing-up the Oaks’ walk in the woods – there are some lovely pieces down there and cant wait to get stuck in! I’ll be getting an order together ASAP.
