  1. Lovely pics – would you mind if I come in, hijack the thread and talk about Oak reductions…
  2. Funny you should say that! I have a truly magnificent Beech with Merip in a cemetery, targets galore! But such a wonderful tree!!
  3. As long as I get the nice pictures who cares! lol I’m getting so much enjoyment out of the camera these days I recon I’d snap away at a big job even on my days off - (and that’s saying something!)
  4. Yep, I’m glad it’s done as well. Granted it’s a little on the ‘hard’ side but considering the road, two footpaths, village green and 12 houses I think we’ve got it right. There wasn’t much to take it back to, we could have given it a tickle but to be honest I wasn’t willing to risk a nasty outcome, as its on a public open space so ultimately my responsibility. I think some Arbs would have had it down, but at least we’ve given the old girl a fighting chance…
  5. Got it and the Landbased Machinery MEWP ticket back in 2008.
  6. This is the original thread which is the pre-curser for ‘Heavy Oak Reduction’, maybe in hindsight I should have popped the pictures on the end of this one. Take time to read it through if you like….
  7. The focus is meant to be on the climber - you Arbs, your just not artistic enough!
  8. Watch this space I'll pop down there Friday - then shut myself away from all humans for the next 24hrs!
  9. Matt and Tom have just told me about it. I haven’t been down yet because it’s going to stress me out big-time! I’ll take the camera and take a few pictures.
  10. Hello my little Chestnut thread! Long-time, no-see… Looks lovely David, thanks for posting. Got a story to tell about my beloved Chestnuts – The riverside was recently cleared of Alders by a local (ish) company, some obviously went the wrong way and some of the heads have been snapped off – Not Good!!
  11. I has a mess around on Photoshop the other evening and came up with this, see what you think…..
  12. Looks a lovely job! Well done that man……:congrats:
  13. Excellent job! Nice to see a hand-saw in the tree..
  14. Haha, you didn’t mention that! As soon as you start rigging i.e. not just cut and chuck then you’ll fall into Best Practice and Risk Assessments. I wouldn’t attempt rigging with a MEWP without the associated NPTC ticket, because if there was an accident the first thing the HSE would want to see is proof that the operators knew what they were doing. Maybe this is a grey area that needs to be addressed…
  15. No there isn’t, shouldn’t be any need if your using the correct sized MEWP.
  16. Koelreuteria paniculata (Pride of India) | Barcham Trees Website
  17. Feeling for your loss Tony. Know all to well what its like, sorry dude.
  18. Cheers buddy, thought you'd remember it......
  19. I didn’t mate, sorry. I was busy getting my backside as far away from that head mistress as quickly as poss’.
  20. Many congratulations!! Look after that good lady of yours..
  21. May I propose a photography sub-forum, as there are a lot of members on here who really do enjoy this stuff?
  22. The money your talking about will get you a nikon D40 - but spend as much as you can because you'll really get into it and wish you'd spent more. A D60 is a nice camera, have a look on e-bay or Jessops..
