  1. Leave it with me; I’ll start the research! Shame you cant persuade the wife so you can splash out big-time on a camera, you obviously get a lot of enjoyment out of it; as I do.
  2. I agree, I’d never take a saw to it – tempted to bore some holes into it big enough to fit some night-lights/candles though…
  3. I wish - dropped it off at my parents house. I’m sure I’ve seen something like this in an inglenook fireplace with lights all over it (but cant for the life of me remember where)
  4. I grabbed this last summer and its been sat in the garden ever since. I think its crying out to be made/displayed into something, any suggestions??
  5. Ohhh thats lovely! Where is it? wouldnt mind taking some pics of that myself...
  6. He was very competent and flowed well round the tree. I don’t think he is Steve, although I did done my salesman’s hat on at one point to try and liberate him..
  7. Love that blue sky.....and that pose!
  8. He did know – I forewarned him before he went up.
  9. I have plenty more in my extensive files Stevie.
  10. This was the highlight of my day…. Personally I thought the organisers missed a great opportunity for some informed debate about the pro’s and cons associated with the pruning of veteran trees. Yes the Veteran Tree Forum is a forum but I didn’t expect it to continue on in the field with only ‘selected members’ invited to exchange ideas and opinions. When Arbs spoke up we were either ignored or told to be quiet! (I was chatting quietly with an esteemed colleague when I was told to stand in the corner of the field if I wanted to continue chatting!) Blame you David, for that one. It was good talking to David L, Ted G and Roy F, and of course fellow Arbtalkers. An opportunity missed, I feel.
  11. What was I on when I took this one then…..? Am I the only one with ‘bad tree work pictures’ ?
  12. Here you go…. Appallingly bad picture, over-exposed and terrible camera shake.
  13. That’s lovely Tom. What a responsibility to be a custodian of that beauty!
  14. I’d contact the T/O buddy, with a new construction going ahead they (or they should be) sniffing about. You don’t want to get their backs up, play safe..
  15. Cheers guys All things considered I think we’ve done the best job possible. The old girl has been host to inonotus for some considerable time (and weathered a fair few storms). I hope an inner crown will develop in the coming years and that will enable us to bring it down even further. A few more odd pics....
  16. Cast your minds back a while ago and you may remember this thread… http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/tree-health-care/5375-oak-needs-your-help.html After some detailed root investigation and some considerable exchanges of information and opinions with the local residents we’ve finally got round to carrying out works....
  17. Cheers buddy, What an artistic, creative bunch we Arbs are – sometimes I think we’re wasted in this chosen profession....
  18. Cheers Rich, I upload to Photobucket.com now as a back-up (which takes ages). I spent about 3 hours on pictures the other night!
  19. Heavy Oak reduction, more to follow tomorrow hopefully.
