  1. I think we are in for the " Association of Professional Foresters" vs. The " Forestry Contractors Association " of the new milennia. Those who know, know . Those who don't, take heed.
  2. I was always told to use slow release and broad spectrum for trees.
  3. nice work ,I have got to get one of those. Can you indicate the time saving/cost of the extra rigging on the tall poplar compared to just lashing it out across the lawn. Setting up pulleys etc. must lose time.
  4. the carlton was ****er though. most probs on this machine where due to failiure of the hydraulic motor on the cutter wheel.
  5. Feral pigeons are vermine and on a list of birds that can be eradicated at any time of year. i think you need a permission but as the nest constitutes a health hazzard.... Chippers are good for hiding evidence... squirrels too... Scroll down the page about half way or more for some help. http://www.the-tree.org.uk/EnchantedForest/nestingbirds.htm

  10. Logging hours is a way forward. I think it may be hard to prevent cheating though. It would be useful in climbing work. In arb work felling is such a small part of the job., but crosscutting is big. In forestry I often felled more trees in a day than I do in a month now.
  11. N of Bournemouth, pine , birch and oak country.
  12. keen eye. I was thinking the same. Glen, how long between each cut, do you know.
  13. I thinks it is. His previous was a carlton POS that was, forever breaking down. This had teething troubles as well but it was one of the early ones .
  14. When I do not fancy 8 hours with a baby Rayco I get steve here to to my stumps. This is not a small machine, this is a very tall bloke. [ame= ] [/ame]
  15. Tidy gadget, all I need to do is reinvent it , put a label on it, and sell it for £15 at arb shows.
  16. Qualified. having the qualities, accomplishments, etc., that fit a person for some function, office, or the like. Much less are they competent. Competent. having suitable or sufficient skill, knowledge, experience, etc., for some purpose; properly qualified. Either way your a beginner and have a long road to travel.
  17. Everything has its place. Its good to know many methods even if you only use one. Somedays its nice to "pull one out the hat" when everyone on the ground says thats impossible.
  18. Sohner, those are real gems. Thanks for sharing you pictures.
  19. I have seen that stuff and it seems simpler to install. I am trying to specify it for a job.
  20. Some do, some don't, ( they just die) I can't tell what will and what won't die. Smaller stems return better. E.gunnii is probably what you have there. Pretty hardy.
  21. I was expecting to see a circus tent fall down. Nice oak job though.
  22. I'm glad you find it funny , mines wearing thin and I want to know where I can buy another. Do you think he gets them of the powerline guy?
