  1. how very true , how sad.
  2. my local scrap metal dealer does it in less than 20 seconds.
  3. You just gotta look in the right place. Locally a double pulley water pump for my county was 120+vat +3 days. ebuy, £55 delivered with gaskets as well.
  4. Thanks for that it all makes sense now. The part I was missing was the sliding part of the dog clutch and the pulley I broke years ago. I know of another locally but that ran off the side pulley via a long chain. Mine has a angle gearbox to run off the PTO.
  5. 38 year old landrover second hand 254 borrowed rake and ladder.
  6. Chris do you know of any cooks winches or spares for sale? I'm looking for a gear for my fast speed. I can have one made but its probably cheaper to buy a winch for spares. Also have you any idea what the 2nd brake lever furthest from the operator does. Mine is partially missing and not all Cookes have the second lever.
  7. It looks nice and painted up but the innards of a boughton can be messy. Just hope the rain has stayed out. Big winches on the 3 P. Linkage react differently to those mounted on the back end. Due mainly to the float that may occur in said linkage. Has it 2 speeds? Pull heavy things slowly and pull trees over fast . I am in the middle of refurbishing my Cooks 2 speed. I have paid out megga £ for the 10 bearings and have a hefty bill for the gear box rebuild and there are still the new bolts to get. I still need a new gear for the fast speed and that will be lots to have one made. I've started so I'll finish.
  8. Is the pump OK. Has the shear bolt in the PTO shaft broken?
  9. looks like he tried to fell every bush down that lane already
  10. looks more like a firewood depot
  11. Sureley every one uses the tear down method of making short branches fall nearer the stem than straight down.
  12. Also how come 2 popper bikes smell better than chainsaws? My old mate tried castor oil fom his moto-x bike in a 365 ,but its just not the same.
  13. are they stringing you along? In 20 years in forest and garden I have seen one Rowan that was tall clean and large enough for sawing and I cut it down for pulp about 18 years ago.
  14. Top-tastic.
  15. Bad luck there Andy, my double decker melted and i got sun burn, double whammy.
  16. Many fungi look different when immature, go back in a couple of weeks ant see if its matured. I had a ganoderma that looked like a bread roll then 10 days later its 30 cm across and instantly recognisable.
  17. if you google "Official EU reference: 108818-2008" there is only one result! result.
  18. I'll swap your pine and birch in the sea for my wind thrown pine in a stagnant pond. It was vile once it was winched up onto the bank, with all the slime and sludge out the bottom of the pond.
  19. If fungal spores are transmitted great distances hrough the air and water why cant they travel a few inches into the ground and to roots and shoots?
  20. can you go a little further south?
  21. Chain link fence is a bitch as it winds up real tight.
  22. Dead uns, when they are cold you have little or no chance of steering them as the hinges snap off rather than bend over. Glad it was a minor booboo that didn't escalate to a serious one.
  23. I have patched a pavement with cold cure tarmac from B&Q Hole due to Euc removal.
  24. cheap logs last longer... ... but they use more matches and petrol to light them.
  25. looking out the window I notice that the estate behind us has a blackout.. didn't know grangemouth did electric too
